Just read an article by Jethro Bovington in latest Evo mag and he slates the dynamic steering and think its spoils the car (amongst other things)....

Anyone got it and think its poop also...?

Interesting to know what its like to live with as Ive test driven with and without and quite liked the idea of being able to switch it on for track days when you want it stiffened up along with suspension settting etc..

I find Audi tend to try and substitute feeling with weight. It's not perfect and certainly not as good as you'd find in an e90 M3 or even the B7 RS4, but it's not bad
I couldn't notice the difference with the non dynamic car I drove

I purposely chose 'non sport' as I was warned not to go for the dynamic steering plus I drove both. Personally I am glad I did it but I think in reality, 95% of the people who buy wont be testing the car like journos.

It's either comfort (ok for day to day) or dynamic (way too heavy for anything but track work)
I've only ever user dynamic once and that was at donnington

I quite like the dynamic setting gives the steering a nice weight comfort is far to limp I feel I over steer with it on so I always have the car on dynamic no stiffer than the B7 but recently had a software update and the dynamic steering is slightly lighter now but I personally prefered the dynamic as it felt to me your were feeling the road more I know it's all done with pumps and software trickery but I do like the weight ed feel

Was refreshing to jump into a new shape manual S3 the other day with ZERO buttons and settings to dick around with - just jump in and drive. Joyous.

Have to agree - there is something about a car that you don't have to configure but is already setup "just right". I'm really worried that this obsession with adjustable electronic well everything is leading towards cars that whilst are no doubt capable are missing something.

Surely it's not that hard, you don't meddle every time the key is turned/button pressed? I've just set it up as I want it and I get in and go.

I think the way things are going if you can find a combination that works for you like this then you are truly lucky.
To be clear, this isn't an audi only thing though - I've driven a fair few cars and only one actually really gets away with it.
How many times have people complained that "sport" is too hard and bouncy and "comfort" too soft? That's before you start adding steering, diff, and other what nots into the equation. Trying to find something that works well when it has soo many operational variables just feels a nightmare to me.
Where as with cars like the B7 (other good handling cars are available) that didn't have this feature needed to be setup once and to be able to do everything out of the box. granted, you'll always fighting compromises but as a pure mechanical setup the B7 takes some beating. Likewise with the older M3's (although weight does feature into this equation).
Even with the simple options I generally found myself chasing for the combination that I wanted...
