Did someone mention that an iPhone 5 will not connect through the Bluetooth system ?
I have a 4s, which works faultlessly for both music and calls, but upgrade time is coming up, and seeing as I seem to spend half my life in my car, then having a phone's important
Anyone know the score ?

is this the RSAP issue?
Early Mk6 Golf Bluetooth wouldn't connect to Iphones.
Later ones were OK and it's the work of 1 min to swap the modules over.
I can't believe the RS4 is similarly afflicted years later!

Not quite.

Won't connect for data, music and phone is fine.

I'm pulling my hair out tbh. The whole duplicate SIM not being possible due to the tabloids (that's my understanding anyway) means that I either have a data SIM in the HU, or link my phone on Bluetooth. But I can't do both. No Data Sim = loss of half the Sat Nav functions, but then I can't bluetooth my iPhone5 for handfree if the data sim is installed.

Am I missing something or is this right?

:bash:

Is that correct, if you have a sim in the dashboard you can't connect a phone for BT Phone usage at the same time?

That is madness if the case!!!

It's a bit backward. Given the lack of phones with SAP is doubly bollocks.

Genuinely the answer is to get a Samsung Galaxy Note or similar, and have the one gadget that does it all (if you have Audi Connect and wish to use it) or just keep the iPhone if you're happy with music and straightforward Bluetooth hands free.

If you're not wanting to use the data connection for the Audi connect part (which not every RS4 has) then don't sweat it.

I actually use a Lumia, that I love, rumour has it the next update might include SAP so I will hold tight. Not a fan of android.

Excuse my ignorance on this, but why would your car need to acquire data through a phone that it doesn't already acquire through normal means (ie traffic updates through the satnav etc) ?

Out of interest, what does that give you over a standard sat nav map ?

Access to all of Googles data for searching for things.

Also, seems like it is all possible with a Phone and a Sim
