Review of the new RS6 is non too kind on the 4,power thats not readily available and not great dynamics, ive not driven a new RS6 but he rates it as the best of the current crop which is interesting.Have to agree with his comments regarding the b8 so maybe il pin the tail onto an RS6 as my next choice of weekend weapon!

That's the least shocking conclusion ever
1. C7 RS6 is incredible so that makes sense
2. Chris Harris is a knobend (just thought I'd throw that in there )

Cant agree with that, its the first time ever that the 6 has been deemed better than than the 4,as he says theyve usually been a lame duck in the handling department and just an autobahn missile,so it is a suprising change imo.Autocar or such like said pretty much the same but no particular referance or comparison to the current b8 RS4.It just one journo's opinion but his tests have more meat on the bone than most.I disregard findings when there based on how well a road can drift as part of its assessment because who realisticaly does that in there new 75k car? Errr no one i suspect so its not relevant to the vast majority of owners.

One other mag said 4 better than 6. Not really a fair comparison given the cost either, you could have a pair of RS4s for a well spec'd RS6.
Have seen the 6 at Goodwood. A bit underwhelmed. The E63 is quite tasty. Need to see both in the right colours.

I wouldn't perhaps go as far as to call Chris Harris a 'knobhead', however, although he's worshipped by most of the PH community, he appears to like cars that appeal to the more 'hooligan' type of consumer and generally slates anything that falls outside his own personal bubble of criteria
I'd suggest the only way to truly make your mind up is to drive both and see for yourself
I'm at FOS tomorrow and I'll have a good sniff around the RS6 then, and later have a demo car arranged with my dealer when it arrives in a few weeks
Fwiw, a decent spec rs6 is 85-90k, and a decent spec RS4 is 60-65, so a very different market too

Chris Harris appeals mostly to mouth breathers who think drifting is the be all and end all of using a car. It's literally the only thing appealing about him to his fans. That he does powerslides in slow motion. Very one dimensional.
He is Jeremy Clarkson without the personality. A total wannabe. Completely steals Jeremy style and language when reviewing a car...and basically replicates Jeremy's 'audi is popular thus anything audi is bad' mantra.

However, he is an extremely handy racing driver when he wants to be, whereas, I imagine Clarkson isn't

Well let's think about it. He's handy at drifting the car in slow motion videos. So is Clarkson.
As for him being a racing driver, is that a necessary qualification for reviewing cars? Are you more like Clarkson or are you more like Harris? I. E. Are you more a fellow who likes nice cars and drives them to his real job and then back home... Or are you a track junkie with no other life.
I reckon most of us are more like Clarkson.

I agree, I think more of us are at the skill level of clarkson (ie, slightly club handed and heavy footed

)
However, I've seen Chris racing in the Porsche cup and also out at castle Combe trying to set fast laps in a C63, and he's a very good driver when he wants to be, just I think he plays a little on the 'tyre slayer' moniker due to its popularity with the masses

I'll read a road test and drive the car to form an opinion, sometimes I agree and other times I don't.
I agree with everything bad that has been said about the steering and ride on tests of the B8

Had an RS6 for a few days now. I prefer the RS4. Bombastic as the '6 is, it's too wide for our narrow roads and so you can barely use any of the performance available. Ride and steering does seem marginally better but the box is slow and I much prefer the RS4's powerplant too, who doesn't love revving a V8 to 8.5k - although the 6 does sound good on the overrun..POP, BANG.
Thought you'd approve of the pic, Graeme...
Opinion relevant as I can't afford either
