Are you one of these who buys a performance car and worries about the mpg?

Am getting more than that but haven't really opened it up as I just got to 1,300 miles (was following the run in procedures). Overall I think in highway driving it can be a lot more fuel efficient than the b7 but not so much in city traffic or under "spirited driving". Definitely more economical than the AMG 6.2 liter engine

The engine and transmission won't even be close to being runing properly (wrt mpg) for at least 10k-20k miles. You'll always get a lower mpg than a car with slightly more miles... then things start to wear and it drops again.
As for the motorway - the 8 is 7 speed and I would suspect that the top gear is longer than the 6 speed manual. Out of interest, whats the rpm at say 75 mph (indicated).

I don't know because the highest speed limit in this country is 70mph
I'll look later on my 2 mile drive home!

So how does the real life mpg differ from what Audi say?
