Just picked up my new RS4, its my first quick Audi. Totally baffled by the Drive Select - none of the inbuilt settings seem to suit me for 'normal' road use.

The cars got Dynamic Ride Control, but not the steering. Its rolling on 20" V spokes. The ride is nowhere near as plush as the 997 C2S I chopped in last week for the RS4 - but loads better than the PP equipped C63 that until my physio advised me to get rid of it...

Anyone got any advice on the Drive Select Individual settings to get it to ride plush, steer quick, change gear quick but smooth???

With the drive select I think it's a case of trying the different permutations and finding what works.

I normally leave mine in auto which is a travesty. Do give it a blast in dynamic every now and again which is nice. This is on an S4 however with damper control and sports diff.

This is the car - just been to Heathrow and back on Auto which seems more intuitive on a longer drive. The ride still seems a bit harsh for the motorway - although great on the few twistys enroute from the house to the M3.

Just set it to steering & diff = dynamic with engine/gearbox and suspension to comfort. Suits me fine for running around town and commuting - which tbh is most of the time. Will reserve the dynamic mode for back roads blasts...

If you've got HDD Nav you should be able to press the "car" button and use the bottom right corner button of the MMI to enter "Set Individual".

I've got:

Engine / Gearbox = Dynamic
Suspension = comfort
Steering = comfort
Sports Diff = Dynamic.

I've previously had a 997C2S too. Interested to hear your view on the RS4 in comparison.

The sound of drybeers set up/535d's proposed sounds aggressive with the engine/gearbox on dynamic - I find its always hunting for a lower gear (although I've only done 500 miles so far). I will give it a try as you have as the comfort suspension may may the setup less 'maximum attack'.

Already regretting not getting the convenience pack as my wife is actually using the car - and I hate electric seats.

I didn't go for the sport pack as I didn't want the dynamic steering or the rotor alloys. At the time Audi wouldn't let you swap the alloys in the sport pack - although I think they will now. The sport pack looks great value though.

As for comparisons with the 997C2S - I had a manual Gen 2 model and I think its fairly chalk and cheese with the RS4. The Porsche is a far purer experience, more direct and engaging, while the RS4 cant disguise how much bigger it is. While the RS4 feels a more brutal car, it is also more sophisticated - the gearbox being a highpoint.
