You're asking someone with a turbo RS4. Ask me again when the new RS4 has turbos :)

Thought it was a cracking car but felt very heavy on track....
Too much chrome detailing going on with the interior...
Dynamic/Comfort set up was easy to use and made a huge difference...
S-tronic box was brilliant...
Felt initially slower than my modyfied B7 but once the V8 was wound up it responded very well...
Think with miles on the engine it will pull a lot stronger...
Fave colour - sepang blue c/w flaming ceramic brakes!

One thing we all missed was a little time to look around the cars as it was full on all afternoon...!

Defo' my next RS but will wait until used ones drop in price a little - the game has moved on as expected but wouldve loved a turbo/charger bolted to that great engine

Thanks Audi for a great event - you will all enjoy yourselves "a lot"

random thoughts about today

the bonnet is huge and the car feels big and pretty heavy but it turns where you want, very impressive

dynamic ride is bloody horrible around millbrook which is hardly rough, comfort mode ride was very good but felt artificial / detached

i couldn't feel anything through the steering and in dynamic you need to be a body builder to hold it on lane 4 on the bowel at 110, needs a lot of steering input to move it about as well

the stock seats are brilliant, the best audi seats i have sat in by a mile

you have to work the V8 which lacks low down grunt but wails up the top end

outside the car sounds amazing, inside its hard to hear and i found the mid range drone pretty annoying unless its on full chat

its disappointing that it doesn't have the third level of noise the V8 R8 makes where it goes beyond wailing and goes into full on GT noise mode :notworthy:

over all i felt the whole thing felt a bit artificial but highly competent, it didn't make me smile, the R8 made me ejaculate :drink:

I really want to drive one with out the electrickery suspension and steering, I am hoping it feels more hooked up / connected

I basically agree with all the above

My comments though would add ;
The standard exhaust is a lot quieter than the std one on my B7
All the cars were fitted with DRC, so hard to compare what the car would be like without it (likewise bigger alloys)
The engine doesn't feel much quicker than my B7 and not have the defined kick at 5.5k is something I'll miss
Turn in feels pretty decent, but today was damp so difficult to get a decent appreciation of the limit, although levels of grip on the road were good
The DSG box is very smooth and exceptionally sharp
In my eyes, it doesn't look as aggressive or have the presence of the B7, although for me that's not a bad thing as the subtle nature of the B7 was always a bonus as its my everyday car and gets left all over the place
The buckets are a lot better than the standard seats, although this is going to be massively dependent on the shape of the drivers arse and shoulders

Overall, a good day and after considering it on the way home, I think I'll wait 12-18 months before I purchase to let someone else take the large initial depreciation hit. Although I was impressed with the car, it's not worth 40k more than what I'd get for mine. I might step the 997TT search up a notch now and keep the B7

I shared a car with Ash, who's another another Rs246 member and we both managed to get the car completely airborne on the alpine circuit, which was fun as it was someone else's suspension bill :biggrin3:
Generally though, it's a very impressive car and the dsg box really suits the high revving nature of the car
Wonder what a supercharged one would be like :jump:

Interesting to hear the comments about DRC and dynamic steering, some of which is borne out by the early road test reports. I would love to know how the stock car feels in compariosn, does anyone here have any experience?

Edited to ask what Dave Hedgehog was doing to his bowel at 110mph?
