9% discount - good? *deal done!*
Re: 9% discount - good?
Yep! Basics.....
Re: 9% discount - good?
Deal done(!) on the stock Misano car with a smidgen over 15% discount achieved, which I'm more than happy with.
It was a hard slog, but I got there in the end, and the dealer has been brilliant. I dealt directly with the sales manager to save all the back & forth.
All being well with the finance tomorrow, I pick it up next weekend. Spec is as follows...
Misano Red
Fine Nappa Leather with Rock Grey Piping and RS embossing
Sports Pack with 20" titanium rotors
Black Styling Pack
Black roof rails
Electric front memory seats
Heated front seats
Electric folding and auto dimming memory mirrors
Privacy Glass
Storage Pack
Hill-hold assist
Piano Black Inlays
Thanks for all the advice and help.

Re: 9% discount - good? *deal done!*
Hi All
With pick up day fast approaching, I have a couple of questions...
1. How many miles should roughly be on the clock for a new RS?
2. Does anybody here use a boot liner with a fold out bumper flap? I carry our whippet lurcher around in the car a fair bit, so I had one in the A6, but it didn't have a flap and the bumper ended up getting a few marks from her claws as she jumped in and out. On a white car it doesn't show so much, but Misano will show every mark. I see Audi do a reversible boot floor with fold out mat as an 'option', but what's it like and can you get it as a retrofit?
3. Does the AMI come with any cables, or do you have to buy those separately?
4. Without getting into a debate on what's best... does the 4.2 run exclusively on 97+RON, or given it's N/A is it fine to use 95?
5. Anything else specific to the 4 I need to check/consider on pick-up day?
Thanks

Re: 9% discount - good? *deal done!*
1. I think mine had about 12 miles on it.
2. Yes, and it isn't great - just a loose bit of carpet with an extra flap that you can fold over the bumper. it's OK for my purposes but you can find something better for protection against dogs. It isnt attached to anything and looked like something that the dealer had supplied off-the-shelf.
3. Yes, the dealer gave me a pack containing an Apple Lightning connector and a USB 'A' socket.
4. I try to use 99 but have used 95 a couple of times when a higher octane wasn't available with no obvious Ill effects.
5. The dealer had warmed my engine up in the workshop before handover, which was a nice touch.
Congratulations - you'll love it.

1) Mine had about 20 miles on the clock, but first one had around 40
2) I have the boot liner. It's pretty rubbish quality to be honest, but it does it's job and stops the bumper getting covered in crap or the backs of the rear seats when folded flat.
3) My AMi came with a full set of cables, which i've since lost

4) I always use vpower of momentum, but in saying that, my last car made it's full 444bhp at the AMD RR day after friends wife kindly filled it up with Asda 95ron the day before after they'd borrowed it. Didn't notice any difference personally, but I'm sure there's a science to show it needs the higher unleaded to get the best from it
5) Push the dealer for pressies. Everyone likes a free coat, umbrella or bottle of wine. They'll have a cupboard full of giveaways, and you've just spent circa £60k on a car, so angle for getting something for free
Post some pics up when it arrives

Re: 9% discount - good? *deal done!*
Hi,
1.The dealer told me they like to give the RS cars a slightly longer road test (I bet they do!). Mine had 40 miles but up to about 60 is not unheard of.
2.I'm also in some sort of boot and bumper protector but didn't think the Audi one looked worth the money.
3.The dealer asked me what phone I had and then provided me with the specific charging cable + USB cable.
4.I always use Shell Nitro although now the lego sets have finished, I may return to Tesco Momentum (interested in your results Graeme with the Asda 95)
5.Dealer took a nice presentation photo of my car half revealed under the silver blanket and then offered me a choice from the cabinet. As I have an 8 month old little boy I took the following: https://shops.audi.com/en_GB/web/collec ... 1201000-10

I have found the run in very difficult this week, already driven 400 miles mainly on the motorway and although I've tried to vary the speed and regularly changes gears it is very difficult to do so. One thing I do find difficult is to drive at the legal limit, even with what feels like about 10% pressure on the acc pedal the car is in 7th and doing 80. Having a clock that goes to 200 with less than a third of it showing the UK legal limit is not ideal. I haven't yet read the instruction manual to help me find a way of having the speed as digital. Can't seem to cycle through the computer either to show me things like Ave speed, etc?

Re: 9% discount - good? *deal done!*
Thanks guys - your answers have put my mind at rest!
1. When I queried ed how many miles were showing on the odometer (to make sure it wasn't included in my annual mileage allowance ) he said it was 40, but he caveated saying "RS models are often delivered with around 30- 50 miles on as they receive more testing by quattro GmbH, the subsidiary of Audi AG which manufacture them.", to which I was skeptical, but your answers validate that statement.
2. I thought the one the dealer had (they said it was reversible) seemed a bit flimsy, so it would seem to be the same one that's supplied from the factory on the options list. I'll get on the lookout for one.
3. This seems to vary from dealer to dealer. Mine asked me what phone I had, where as previously I'd read that others were supplied a 'pack' of cables'.
4. I've always used 'super' in my forced induction cars, but in the N/A cars I've had over the years (TVR T350, Honda S2000 and Golf R32) they've always run the same on 95. I was wondering if it specifies it in the handbook.

There's a button on the underside of the right stalk behind the wheel, that'll cycle you through your IP display to speed, sat nav etccopperband wrote:Hi,

On the end of the same stalk, there's another button which up and down gets you trip computer type stuff like mpg, range etc

Digital speed: Press the button on the right hand stock (it's not on the end of the stock). This will cycle through various displays and one is a large digital speed read out. The other useful one is the lap counter view that also includes oil temp so you can let it warm up before testing the limiter. My B8RS4 runs higher than I'm used to seeing in previous performance cars at 100-106°C in a steady run but I guess the motor is designed that way for a reason.
Petrol: The book and filler cap both state 95 can be used if 98 is unavailable and this will not do any damage but will reduce performance slightly. Up in the far north of Scotland and across the water to Orkney you are forced to use 95 (and an octane booster if you want to). I always fill with Tesco Momentum, Shell 98 or Sainsbury’s 97 where possible and only as a last resort would I consider 95.
My only option on the motorway is cruise control to stay at a sensible speed and the adaptive cruise on the car is fantastic.

Mine came with 54 miles. I did chuck a wobbly when I saw it but they also said GmbH did test them throughly. Mine came with the leads that were thrown in. I've got Paintshield on my bumper stops any scratches like this. I always use Nitro + never anything else especially as it's so cheap now. I got a free day at Silverstone with a professional driver with one to one tuition in an RS4 with ceramics, they even took the missus out in the car as well but they were along time on the back straight together lol! I think that alone would of been worth over a grand not including a set of tyres and wear on those expensive pads. The car was severely punished. It was good to listen to what the professional driving world think of Lewis Hamilton and his little tantrums when they all used to race against each other in the early days.
