Does anyone know the running in policy for the B8?

The handbook has a generic Audi policy of certain RPM's up to certain milestones. However, the general consensus is to take it reasonably steady for the first 1000miles and then let rip.
FWIW, the dealer's that I've bought mine from have all said the engine's are run in on a bench and to give it beans from day one without concern.
Also, the cars are test driven flat out straight off the production line on a test area at the factory, so they already have an element of 'shake down' done before you get the car. The dealers PDI is also probably fairly hard on the car as well

There's a million differing opinions on this, but modern performance engines are built with such tight tolerances and lubrication technology's changed quite a bit over the years, so a lot of the old school ideas of not scoring bores etc when parts are still bedding in is mildly obsolete

Personally, I've always gone fairly steady over the first 1k but still used all the rev range, and then given it beans from there on
I think as long as you always make sure the car is nice and warm (oil temp over the first indicated 60deg) before giving it full throttle, you'll not be doing any damage to the engine and then save things like track days etc for when it's done a few k

Comments from Audi...

Regarding the running in process, I have spoken with the technicians and they advise me that there is no need to run the car in as all the parts are laser cut; furthermore the RS cars are tested at Quattro GMBH prior to delivery.
However it is worth bearing in mind the gearbox will take ~500 miles to learn and adapt to how you drive.
The other comment the technicians made is that you should never drive the car hard whilst it is cold.
