I must admit I was watery eyed when I saw and drove the Evo again and took a blast in the GTR...its was like seeing an old girlfriend again and you get drawn back into memories.

The RS4 is no doubt head and shoulders above the jap stuff is so many areas that it doesnt evem need mentioning, but there is no real comparison between them really as such different beasts, chalk and cheese, they each do what they do without compromise... however... maybe its the lack of turbo and I am boost junky, it all seems to easy too drive, and its lazy 6th, and all a little bit too good dare, I say and I hate the term but lacking 'Rawness' but its maybe a little too well mannered  . Looking at track toy maybe and then something suitable for the detailing, dog wagom shopper and runaround, so maybe an avant TDI.

I am undecided as yet, just not feeling the love as I thought I would for the four rings now, something missing :bash:

I know what you mean the smoothness of the power delivery does lack the rawness that you are used to, I feel the whole package is better to live with on a daily basis though. I have to say I am a little biased as I have never been a fan of the wings and spoilers preferring something a little more understated.

Get yourself a track toy, how much do those Evo's go for?.

Yes it can be a little bit Chav-Tastic and in yer face  Yes the whole idea in getting the Avant was to go back to a car as whole package as you say to live with everyday, meaning that the RS4 avant was an absolute no brainer of a choice as it was primarily an everyday runner and practical car with the power as well.

Like the RS4's there a price range between dogs and minters, so between 20k-40k Depending on spec etc.

Jurys out... Meanwhile back on the ranch on topic

audi have to be careful that the rs brand does not become shody in looks and performance...it is not looking to good at the mo imo....maybe to many rs models with less time to perfect the looks and performance between each...where as before it was only the 4s and 6s.. :sekret:

Different cars as the article confirms. First was wide arched and the RS4 mule. This is the S4, standard arches. Strange that is appears to be running on 20s - they cannot just be 19s

well if you look at the pictures in the first Fourtitude article the cars look identical just with different Rims, and different lower intake grills the S4 actually has deeper wider ones?
The wheel arches do not seem any wider

Different front wings on the RS4 plus rear arch extension, tax disc holders, front splitter / bumper, rear diffuser, front brake callipers........ plus one has a full roll cage, one has nothing.

It won't look as good as the B7 no matter what they do to it. Shame.

Of course it wont, right up to the time when you sell your B7 and get a B8 then the B7 will then look dated and the B8 will be the best thing since sliced bread. :D

Its what all 996 owners said about 997, E46 owners about E90 and so on.

They have the oppurtunity to get this thing right, the main aspect of its looks being agreeable to me as previous B7 RS4 owner will be agressive stance and that will mean it has to have the B7 style arches. If they get that right it should be a very nice looking car. If they do an RS5 or RS3 on it, its not going to be enough. It is much more important for them to get this one right as the B7 set a precedent, the RS5 and RS3 didnt go far enough with the flared arches imo and RS5 sales have suffered because of it and its price differential to say an M3.
Pitch it at M3 money, give it some masculine looks and make it least a bit better than the B7 and Ill have one thank you. :)

I was in my local dealership last week having DRC sorted, while i was in i had a good chat about a future Rs4 and they have heard nothing regarding it being in the b8 model range,in the showroom was a very nice looking avant quattro 2.0 sport, front end look very aggresive with carbon look splitter etc if they did a proper job including arches etc and got the handling right i would be interested in few years when there affordable
