I don't want to get drawn into a big enquiry here but I think as KMP says all dealers have very similar margins to play with its just finding the one that wants to do a deal better than the previous.

The car I'm getting was not sat on a dealers show floor or parked in the docks.Neither was it my factory order from the start. I believe the car I am getting was either a cancelled order or a car that a dealership had on order which they no longer wanted. There are a huge number of these cars around in dealers and you just need to find someone who wants e deal more than another.
Like any business there will be some more successful than others and the dealers that didn't even bother to return my calls had clearly had such a great year that they didn't need to bother with me. There are then the dealers in between who want to secure a sale but will only go so far (plenty of those) then I found a few that went the extra mile and traded them off vs each other.

I always buy my cars in December as its normally the best time to secure a car at the keenest price - if a dealer has done then profitability targets then they are happy to move another car at little to no margin to hit volume targets. Similarly, it may be that the mix of cars the dealer has sold doesn't include the particular model and so they are happy to do a deal to hit that mix target.

I don't work in the trade but from what I understand from others, the complexity of all the different targets and layer of margins, rebates and bonuses doesn't make it as simple as most businesses where you buy a product for x and you sell it for y.
KMP - I will check at the dealers tomorrow and if he is happy to do another deal like mine then I will share you his details and the exact deal I got. If mine was a one off then I will ask what the best he can do for you is. In the meantime a dealer that was great with me and keen to get my business (but didn't have access to the car I wanted) was Glasgow Audi, a guy in sales named Jordan. He was very helpful.

The only thing is we are in January now and as someone else pointed out, it might be the case that less deals are available now as the targets get reset? That will of course depend on when Audi's business year ends?

I love to negotiate and do deals, some people are better that me at it and some don't like to do it at all. Treat it as a fun game and hopefully you will get what you want :-)

I realise the next RS4 could be a couple of years away, but with the new A4 due to arrive in the summer will deals improve on all B8 models including the RS4?? Are the current special editions the last of the B8 RS4 available, or can you still factory order a standard car?

9% discount - good?

Both are available to configure, but some options have gone, 'ramics have disappeared from the brochure.

I'd be surprised if there's much more discount to give on anything other than an exceptional basis.

Thanks for that. I echo what you're saying. Part of the car buying thrill for me is the initial search, negotiation, and chase to have the best 'deal'. I'm by no means an expert but I like to think I know how a deal works and where there's more to go, and in this instance my gut is telling me there's more, and your case proves it can be done. If one person has achieved it then it's certainly possible, so I'll be chasing for the similar deal on the Misano car. I don't think there's many who negotiated a dealer contribution on their 1M order, but I did, and that made the car even sweeter for me. :D

I may have missed the boat by a few days on the Misano car but he intimated a deal was still on the cards even if I delayed into January, so there's no harm me asking. I know that once a dealer has had a new stock car for coming up to 3mths the willingness to 'deal' increases because of their 3mth bonus target needing to be hit.

If your dealer says yes and wants to do another similar deal for me please do drop me a PM, that's much appreciated. :thumb:

I'm sure you can get a better deal on a physical car, but I'd be very surprised if you could beat 13% on a factory order and at this money I personally prefer to order exactly what I want. I know that Derby have a brand new, high spec car in the showroom at the moment and they will do deals HTH.

I agree, it looks great, I' ve really warmed to Misano after seeing it in the metal. My other half loves it too which is also a bonus!

If it's meant it will be, I'm a firm believer that if a car falls through it falls through for a good reason. :)

Well who is the best dealer around as looking to mybe drive the rs4 and rs6 to decided to come back to Audi.
I did drive the rs4 when it came out, and did not like it against my rs4 B7. So may well just go for the rs6 budget is ok but have to be real as just moving house.
