Re: Knocking suspension when cold
At a guess, I'd imagine that it's the fluid rushing within the chamber due to air gaps and hitting the end of the chamber/base valves which causes a knock.

Specs say that by plugging in the pressure gauge you will lose 0.5 bar anywayRIV wrote:Well got riv back, pressure on DRC was very slightly down from 20- 19.5
So they re pressurised the system, and think the squeak was coming from the location lugs for the back seat, they are waiting for some new updated ones to come in, all in all pleased with Guildford Audis service. I think that most cars with DRC will suffer from a slight knock on comfort mode, it's just one of things, it's hardly noticeable TBH
Re: Knocking suspension when cold
The whole recharging process is quite convoluted in order to prevent air in the system.Surrey Sam wrote:At a guess, I'd imagine that it's the fluid rushing within the chamber due to air gaps and hitting the end of the chamber/base valves which causes a knock.

Hasn't stopped Audi tech's getting it wrong historically and enough to warrant a re-design of the special tool.adsgreen wrote:The whole recharging process is quite convoluted in order to prevent air in the system.Surrey Sam wrote:At a guess, I'd imagine that it's the fluid rushing within the chamber due to air gaps and hitting the end of the chamber/base valves which causes a knock.

Exactly!! Sam has a point adsHasn't stopped Audi tech's getting it wrong historically and enough to warrant a re-design of the special tool.
Think you need to stand down,Sam is the man in the know

Re: Knocking suspension when cold
Would this not make the suspension act in an unsafe manner or handle any differently to a car with no knock ? I know you can hear the knock at slow speeds but would this action inside the chamber affect the car on a spirited drive at higher speeds ?Surrey Sam wrote:At a guess, I'd imagine that it's the fluid rushing within the chamber due to air gaps and hitting the end of the chamber/base valves which causes a knock.
