Re: confirmed
Due to be unveiled at Geneva next year, with sales starting in the second half of 2012.
Might be worth a trip to the show to take a look.

Re: confirmed
Sad to say but yes that is what the sources at Audi close to the project have intimated.
confirmed
What the problem the RS5 lump is amazing, progression from the our engines, hopefully the body work will be amazing with drop dead looks. The real key will be weight, I'm hopping it will be the same as the B7, if
It's close to the 2t mark then that
Be a let down.

Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar
Re: confirmed
Nothing wrong with the RS5 engine, just hoped it might have a turbo to help justify the cost to change.
Re: confirmed
Agree there is nothing wrong with our engines, or the RS5 engine I just got excited that if it was a turbo V8 it would bring something new to the party.PaulRS4 wrote:Nothing wrong with the RS5 engine, just hoped it might have a turbo to help justify the cost to change.
Though as Sonny rightly says it could be an epic car that really raises the bar. Fingers crossed.

The new A6 has saved 100-120kgs. It'd be nice if the B8 RS was lighter too. BUT. No forced induction seems like an odd decision.sonny wrote:What the problem the RS5 lump is amazing, progression from the our engines, hopefully the body work will be amazing with drop dead looks. As Sonny says, this could be pulled out of the fire with something special (looks, power to weight etc), if so, kudos to Audi by going against convention. Hopefully it'll be even more driver focused than the B7 RS.
However, if it doesn't check enough boxes, it's gunna fall flat with that NA 4.2 on-board. If so, then Audi have missed a massive beat by not selecting that lovely 4.0T powerplant. As we've seen in the TTRS/RS3, a sweet motor can make up for some many shortfalls these days.
No matter where you go, there you are.
Re: confirmed
you also need to look beyond JUST the engine for the change from B7 to B8
the B8 has Audi Drive Select and the Sports Differential and the amazing S-Tronic gearbox .... add 30PS and your talking a much quicker car than the B7
they may also go Alu parts again like the B7, shaving some KG
IF it does go NA, dont write it off ...
just think of all that noise !!

Re: confirmed
Turbo'd certainly was the safe option. I'm warming to it, it was a little low rent thinking the 4.0T was going across the performance range. This will be an epic generation for the M3 vs RS4 match up.

Re: confirmed
440 odd horses, N/A not bad - B8 RS4 would suit a b7 RS4 type bodykit/arches - could be good
Re: confirmed
I suppose we will have to wait and see nearer the time,it would have to be very good in every other area for me consider the swap from a 460ps b7,ive driven a few b8 tdi and have warmed to there styling but there bland to drive so they would have to come good in the handling department, some form of dsg would be good too.

Re: confirmed
ahh shame, a supercharged V6 on steroids would have been great. Seems like the B7 RS4 was the last great RS

Re: confirmed
I would have thought that the characteristics of the B8 RS4 are going to be very similar to the RS5 only the RS4 will carry more weight as it will be avant. I personally would be happy for an RS4 to drive similar but would hope that the comfort setting is a little more comforatble.
Performance wise if its the same lump as the RS5 then isnt it going to be very similar performance wise? If so the existing E9X m3 will already be on par with it along with the C63. Having said that I would gladly buy one so long as its production is limited in the same way as the B7 was.
Price wise I am guessing that with the right spec its going to be a 65k car.
