Dropped mine back to Bedford Audi again today as I complained the last investigation wasn't through enough. Master tech came out and noise was clearly evident and obvious despite car being warm (much worse when cold). It's now in their hands apparently as to whether Audi uk accept its "excessive". So the wait begins.

1. jhcolling - March 14, 500 miles, front offside shock replaced (knocking)
2. carsarecool - Feb 14 - 12,500 front offside shock repaired for knocking - system re-pressurised.
3. Iain_S4 - Nov 14, - 13,000 miles, leaking near side front shock replaced, system re-pressurised. Knocking
4. smudge - Oct.12 - 30k - front offside shock re-pressurised due to knocking - Works carried out by Jack Barclays London. http://ow.ly/Sfc8w
5. GeoffDunk - May 15 - 11k - front nearside shock replaced, system re-pressurised and software updated all due to knocking - 16k all good (Bury St Edmunds Audi)
6. MilesG - May 15 - 8k - both shocks replaced (wrong one replaced first time...), re-pressurised and whole front end re-tightened. Sorted so far... 1k later

Failures not repaired (characteristic of the car) :

1. Simon82 - Sept 14 car, 7k miles. Both front shocks knocking
2. Arsey4 - March 11 RS5, 27k miles, Cold clunk from both fronts.
3. Ricky - May 14 RS4, 50 miles. Both front shocks knocking from new. Belfast Audi refused to replace shocks.
4. WilliamPilot - Sept 13 car, 6k miles. Both front shocks knocking (Swindon Audi have looked).
5. Revolution Glenn - June 14 car, 1500miles drivers front and near side rear (newcastle audi)
6. Johnnydog - Jan 15 car, 2500miles, both front, although drivers is worse (Doncaster Audi re pressurised - slight improvement only)
Since been to Preston Audi at 4,000 miles - same complaint - 'a characteristic of the car, Sir'.
7. RossDagley - June 15 car, 75 miles, both front (worse on drivers side). Bedford Audi refused to repressurise (or even check pressure).
8. Will1981 - April 14 car, 3k miles front near side knock, re-pressurised. Knocking again at 8k from both fronts - replaced DRC with KW Coilovers at 13k after Audi refused to help due to lowering springs.

No Failures :

1. Graeme 4130 - Sept14 car 19k miles
2. Moonmonkey831 - Mar14 car 9k miles
3. Snotsicle - Oct14 car 4.5k miles

I have the car back. Pressure finally checked. Perfect apparently. Knocking like Madame Fanny La Fan's walking stick still.

The current explanation is apparently one of cats is rattling and that's probably it. It's not of course, as a rattle isn't a massive CLUNK but they're just following process I guess.

Car's back in soon for a cat replacement under warranty. That'll be interesting - apparently it can be done with the engine in, which is just as well, as I'm not keen on an engine out job on a brand new car!

Off side suspension unit and sensors repaired/replaced all at Audi expense.....all elements recalibrated, wheels,lane,.....car runs so much better...no knocking clunking...sweet as a peach and so much better ride magic.......

Don't know - certainly can't hear the rattle Bedford Audi claim there is (can't here it over the DRC anyway!)

I'm expecting a call back from Audi UK today (briefly spoke to someone the other day off the back of my official complaint but that didn't work out so well for them, so someone else is calling me today) - although I'm not sure what possible outcome they're going to find acceptable to satisfy me.

I was previously a disappointed customer. Now I'm a disappointed & pissed off customer. Audi really have hacked me off in how they're dealing with this. £100k on an RS7 next year? Forget it at this rate. Porsche test drive looms Monday. And apparently Porsche comes with customer service too which will be refreshing after Audi...

Last response from Hitchin (who to their credit did this as a second opinion/favour for me) and agreed the noise is excessive, but their hands are tied. At least we have a TPI now.
