Protects the main boot carpet too which gets full of fine dust without much bother.

It's like a mobile phone cover. It makes your phone look rubbish as it gets dirtier and dirtier. Then when your phone is 2 years old and goes into a drawer forever as you buy a new one it looks immaculate.

Why bother? You only ever see the top liner which gets worse and worse, the carpet underneath stays clean but you never see it.

Active cruise is the best invention on cars for years IMHO

To be fair I would be more interested in protecting the bumper, I take your point about never seeing the carpet, but you could extend that argument for floor mats. I know a guy who uses an old piece of carpet to protect his mat (which is protecting his carpet) in the driver footwell, quite bizarre!

Amen, I've used mine all the time I've been on m-way/d carriageway.

I think it certainly helps the fuel economy. Managed 25.4 over 100 trip earlier in the week.

Over 1000 miles I am at 17.4mpg and have been 80/20% short vs long journey. If it hits 20 I'll be happy.....TTRS was 23 over 20k miles.
