I don't need an estate car so am still considering the RS5 which is a great car to drive.

the problem with the rs5 is that the back seats are shocking... so if you treat it as a 2+2 then for the 70k they are asking when specc'd up then you start getting into a pretty crowded and competitive area.
entry level 911 is under that as is a fully loaded evora S 2+2, GTR, hell even a TT-RS looks good value at that price.

I can't help but feel that the rs5 wasn't the best direction - the rs4 has a great niche being 4 door, 4wd and estate option. I don't think they are going to pull many perspective buyers away from the m3

I test drove one for 24hrs and it felt a lot better handling wise, and quick. Dynamic steering, adjustable suspension and lots of new tech toys. It feels nothing like the size of car it is to drive.

Miles better than the RS4... not so sure... but I wouldn't have expected it to be. My RS4 coming up for 5 years felt a little bit dated.

My opinion would be "no".

I wonder if the criticism of the RS5's dampers mean Audi have softened it a bit to improve reliability?

All the tests of the recent RS models (TTRS, RS5 and RS3) have commented how Audi sem to have forgotten (again!) how to get good ride and handling (only the B7 RS4 and R8 seem to have got it right).

So unless Audi have re-hired the R&H experts that setup the B7 RS4 and the R8 then the B8 RS4 is going to be yet another disappointing RS.

The current S4 is meant to be a pretty good driver's car; now, if they can transplant some of that into the next RS4, then great.

I mean who really drives an RS4 regularly to take advantage of that bit that of its performance where it's better than the RS5?
Anyway electric handbrake is enough to put me off B8 chassis, bet 911 hasn't gone one yet has it?
Has an R8?!!
£50k now for an R8 seems a bargain compared to RS5 and most other things EXCEPT £30k RS4

Well fingers crossed it's not on the next RS4. Im really excited about and am looking forward to seeing it in terms of design, just hope im not disappointed like the last 2 RS's.
