I agree, I'd even go 20mm if they fit, however I have so little faith in any pragmatism from Audi on the warranty side of things that I'm holding off until the warranty ends (if I'm not in an RS6 by then!)

Mine has had warranty done with both spacers and Milltek. Jack Barclay or West London are sensible about these things....they'd never notice spacers either as they look like the hub after a few K miles.

I use Direct Line, but don't need to tell them.
I have an item in my policy (probably technically a modification) that says "Winters wheels and tyres for seasonal use".
They don't need to be told each time I change over.

Interesting, I hadn't thought about the insurance aspect. However, it would appear most insurers are okay with it, see the following link for a list of insurers and their responses:

Getting my winters fitted tomorrow to my existing rotors as is looking colder next week. Was seriously considering some new rims but think will leave until spring when I'll get some PS2s

Mine usually go on at the end of November. Looking at the weather forecast I'll be doing the same this year.

Winter wheels and tyres

Post by RS_Four » Wed Nov 18, 2015 3:15 pm

Just had my winters fitted and Hunter alignment as forecast here in Yorks is due to drop over next few days. Bloody good job I did as two of my summers (Dunlop SP Maxx) had splits on the tyre rim and two had small nails/debris in!!
Looks like a new set of alloys and PSS's in the spring are on the cards

Unless we suddenly get a massive dump of snow here in Swindon (pretty unlikely), I'll hold out until later this month to fit mine
Plus, it's going to take me that long to get them out of the garage as they're buried under loads of crap and bikes

Finally collecting tomorrow - not Daytona, not Prism but Sepang (long story). Forgive my ignorance, but are 20" winter (or even all-season) tyres 'approved' / recommended by Audi?

Your winter tyres don't have to be Audi approved.

As long as the load and speed ratings are correct you'll be fine.

Inform your insurance company for peace of mind.
