Audi UK sales are booming so they don't give a damn about customer service, why should they? Poor customer service isn't affecting sales (at the moment) so it's an "unnecessary" expense. It's amazing how crazy short term thinking can be... As you say, it's affecting your decision whether to go for an RS7.

Yes, you'll get the odd individual/dealer who'll go the extra mile, but it no longer comes with the product. That's why I'm in my last Audi. Good product not backed up, unfortunately.

So - today I get the official result from Bedford Audi on my DRC knock the car has had since day 1. It's a characteristic of the car. Surprise surprise. This was exactly what I expected of course, as there's not enough people this time round to make a case like the B7 boys did to get this highlighted.

Bedford Audi did tell me there is a technical bulletin regarding known knocking noises from the DRC, but wouldn't give me the details or reference number of that bulletin as it's "company information only".

Ross, I went through some major issues with a MkIV Golf R32 I had when they were launched. Ironically I was dealing with Bedford VW at the time and I also got no where. Eventually I went mental and took my issues to the press which got me out of the car I had and into a new one. That however took 18 months and totally removed the pleasure of owning the car. I know the feeling where you spot everything, pick up on the slightest flaw and are completely convinced the car is a bag of crap. Some re-assurance from the brand obviously would help and I get why you are seriously considering whether or not to look elsewhere brand wise for your next car.

Before you do though, take some reassurance that some of us have managed to get things sorted. Try a different dealer, one that has dealt with the DRC issue differently. I know they aren't local, but they aren't a million miles away and I can only say good things about Jack Barclays in Wandsworth London. If you can start speaking to them with enough notice, the service team will take time and care to attend to the car with a little inconvenience to you as possible. They may have it for 2-3 weeks whilst you have a loan car, but I would bet some amount of cash (and I am not a gambling man) that they will totally look after you and do their utmost to fix whatever they find. They did with me, and I wouldn't think twice about going anywhere else now. I know others on here (not just B8 owners) will concur. Have a look in the dealers section, many a person sing their praises and I believe people come from Scotland to get their cars worked on my them.

Thanks Smudge - that's really appreciated.

I've had to remove the JCWF exhaust today as they claimed it was that that was knocking (it wasn't because the car's knocked from the afternoon I collected it / 70 miles old!) so that's a pain in the arse, but now I can go there again and this time there's no wiggle room. If I still don't get the outcome I want, I'll have no choice but to look elsewhere. Other than this DRC issue, the car is fantastic. But the service I've had from the last few dealers have really let the brand down.

In other news (and sorry to be off-topic) I spent an hour or so in Porsche Hatfield yesterday. The cayman gts sure is tempting...

What have the others with knocking done next? Any point writing to Audi UK? With service like this to look forward to, I'm not sure I should be sinking RS7 money into Audi in 2017 as planned. Customer service certainly isn't premium like the prices are anymore

Mine took 3 dealers, 2 of which blamed my Milltek for the knocking (one sending me a video of their tech hanging off the exhaust to try and make kit move....ridiculous) and then took it to West London and they just got on with it, recharged the shock and the knock has gone.
