same problem here, except my dealer has just said that Audi would NOT fix the tips - its due to cleaning products or road salt. !! Could the people who have had a positive response please let me know what dealers they used so that I can use this for back up data when I confront the dealer.

Many thanks

Vehicle development inludes lengthy "salt spray" durability testing - it's a spec requirement - and also chemical solution test ranging from gasoline, oils, waxes & cleanets, various acids ... a 'list' of various chemical solutions. The Audi Dealer comment seems hollow noise to me. Regardless of eventual root cause, unless some is attacking the tips with a Brillo Pad then Audi should surely acknowledge & honor warranty claim .

Looked at mine today, both still as good as new, always hand wash my car, I think some of the car washes use strong acid before cleaning the car down, maybe this affects the surface when hot

I've never used a car wash, I use PH neutral snow foam and Megs Gold Class to wash my car. Never use anything on the tips as a few RS3 owners black tips went silver when cleaning.

I've only got 4,500 on the clock too, I thought maybe road salt attacking it but it must be a fault as Audi would claim wear and tear.

Could be a batch issue if not all suffer. For customer satisfaction, surely a swap out is easier?

I've said before, but I bet they hate forums!!!

Same problem here,

My car is not quite a year old. They started going after only 4months. I took it to my dealer today who are very good, but their hands are tied. He showed me a technical bulletin Audi have released on this issue. The last sentence of the bulletin stated warranty and good will be rejected as they blame it on salt or poor cleaning or aggressive cleaners.

They cost £111+VAT each i.e. £266.40. Then £100/hr labour. So you are looking at well over £300 to replace.

Mine started going after only 4 months from new. I got my car new at the end of Feb last year, so perhaps a month of salty roads. They look really shabby now with 8K on the clock. I'm really annoyed as its bad enough Audi won't take ownership of what is clearly a quality issue, then to rub salt in the wounds (no pun intended) blame the owners.

I'm going to get stuck into customer services tomorrow for issuing the BS bulletin :audibash:

Audi Swindon replaced mine yesterday, so you have a reasonable case with Audi uk

Mine are showing degradation too and as I only picked it up a week last Friday they cannot claim it is me!

It is going in as I have a knocking from the front right suspension leg / arm too, they can change them whilst they are in for that!

Are those that have had them successfully replaced getting replaced as a goodwill gesture or as a warranty claim?

Picked my car up from having a service this morning and they, (Audi Portsmouth) have refused to replace the tail pipes under warranty. I have logged a complaint with Audi UK so we'll see what happens.

Incidentally the headlight washer cover does not close properly and their diagnosis for this is to fit a new bumper, (!!) which is covered under warranty. They've booked the car in for a full week next month for the work.

I have again reported the knocking suspension which they are now saying might be coming from the bumper somehow...!!

Tools.
