Have you cleaned the connection on your phone? Sometimes they get a build up of fluff/lint in there. Have you tried putting your phone into flight mode whilst connected?

Some good advice from the Chunk there, if all that fails then get an OEM AMI USB lead. They're not that expensive in the grand scheme of things.

I'm going out in the car tomorrow chaps. Will give it a clean and see if it still messes up with it in airplane mode. Find it stupid as the 12v socket is for what if it's not "12v accessories" given there is the redundant ash tray and 12v lighter not 30cm away!
I have the cable in the glovebox but that's a right f'ing pane to plug in (passenger side visit each time!). I'd prefer something near me for when I get in and get out of the car.

Make the glove box, the phone box. You've heard the adverts

This is exactly what I've got! It's only with DAB and I can't work out why it makes them sound blown!

I have it with all my DAB stations, nothing for FM, that sounds great.

So it's definitely iPhone/iPad when connected to the 12v socket that causes my DAB to crackle and cut out intermittently.
The OEM connector in the glovebox is fine.
So annoying as I can't charge stuff while I drive if I want to listen to the radio (as of course Spotify doesn't work with Audi MMI)

Amazon delivered a new 12v socket hobby to test to see if it was that and bingo ! It's the USB socket that has caused the issue.
Got my self a surge protection Anker job which has done the trick.

That's interference for you. Was it a cheapo connector?
