Chuckle - you'd robbed me of half an inch on the new car :-)

when you look at the used car locator and it says something like "available 23/07/2015". Why is that?

Probably being used as the demonstrator - Dealers have to run demo stock for 3 months I think, they can sell the car in advance, but you'll be asked to leave it with them until the demo completes. (Some can be negotiable though......)

The dealer have registered it as a 'Demonstrator', which means that under Audi rules & regs they are unable to sell it for 90 days.

This rule was put in place to stop dealers registering cars just to hit targets.

I see, seems a bit daft considering you can't order the car so no real point in having RS4 demonstrators.

To be fair to the dealesr they may not have had a choice. Dealers get penalised and lose bonuses for holding too many 'new' stock cars for a certain period time. So it's sometimes in their interest to register it rather than have it sat about. :)

Looking through the used listing at my14 CARS, a lot of them in the spec list "Technology Pack Advanced" yet there's not one single mention of technology pack in the brochure/price list.

Been offered a deal on a demo car, what do you think of it? Spec is good, just not my preferred a colour choice. Deal is good I think, just don't know whether to hold out until I see one with the exact colour and spec I want, even if that means paying a bit more:

£48k, 15 Plate, 1k miles.
black
b&o
sports pack
conv pack
parking advanced
pan roof
hill hold
storage pack
privacy glass
folding mirrors
phone with audi connect
black styling

Another car I was looking at, was one of my preferred colours, not quite as spec'd as the above. Up at £46k, with 6k miles on a 63 plate. That extra 2k gets me pan roof, storage pack, conv pack, less miles, newer car and more warranty time.

As well, Ideally would like a car with buckets, but it seems so few cars have been specc'd with buckets it narrows the choice down a lot so probably going to have be flexible on that one.

Agreed, that is a bloody bargain. I have a high spec (that is higher!) and paid that but with 3,500 on it. I would bite their hand off! Youve saved about £6k being conservative (probably a £64k min spec), get it wrapped if you want another colour, still saves you ££££££"s
MY15 Audi B8 RS4 Avant - sports pack / black optics / sports exhaust / Rotors / Technology Pack High w/ google maps, wifi etc / lane assist / radar cruise / memory pack etc etc - panther black on black on black on black.... with some extra black for good measure!

I don't really understand why prices vary so wildy on the dealer network. Similar spec demo at another dealer is £10k more. Still a lot of cars on there priced £60-70k, I know some are ltd editions but a lot of them just normal ones. Seems like some dealers are away of the deals/discounts available on the cars when the books closed and price accordingly, and others totally oblivious and price near list.

I think thats a very good price. Personally I would take it over the older car with your pref colour. Black is very striking in the flesh.

That would have been a c£65k car new, so if you take the max discount that's been seen here on a brand new car, it's in theory a £55k car if you were to buy it brand new. So the question I'd be asking myself (if I were you) is, is the reduction of £7k over new big enough for me to consider a registered ex-demo?

I specc'd it up and OTR was £63,711, orangewheels discount on that would be down to £55.5k so yea another 7k off is real good. Seems like the convenience pack and storage pack are pretty lightweight add ons. i thought the storage pack would have had the rails in the boot but doesn't.

One other thing I since learnt, B8 RS4's do not come standard with heated front seats so this car doesn't have them. That's one thing I'm not sure I could live without, were standard in the B7. Dealer says they can be retrofitted?
