I'm going to throw something else into this....

I had both of my front shocks replaced, everything tightened up across the front end and there was still a slight knock. Replaced the Pirelli's with Michelin PS2's and residual noise gone......

The Pirellis seemed to make a louder hollow noise when hitting a man hole cover or cats etc.

Just sayin'!!

Bedford Audi did tell me there is a technical bulletin regarding known knocking noises from the DRC, but wouldn't give me the details or reference number of that bulletin as it's "company information only".

What have the others with knocking done next? Any point writing to Audi UK? With service like this to look forward to, I'm not sure I should be sinking RS7 money into Audi in 2017 as planned. Customer service certainly isn't premium like the prices are anymore

Audi UK sales are booming so they don't give a damn about customer service, why should they? Poor customer service isn't affecting sales (at the moment) so it's an "unnecessary" expense. It's amazing how crazy short term thinking can be... As you say, it's affecting your decision whether to go for an RS7.
