But the point is, whilst the RS will be come with B9.0 (vs. B8.5) ... It will still be 1yr post B9 launch that the RS will hit the road.

My understanding from a reasonable source in Audi UK marketting is that b9 RS4 will be in the showrooms at least late 2016
I suspect the logic behind that is that the RS models aren't the most profitable cars in the range, so their purpose, from a marketing point of view, is to bring up the image of the range once it's had a couple of years as ''the new' A4
However, as with all these things, it could be tomorrow or it could be never, and we'll only really know when a german suit pulls off the covers at a motor show one day

Same origins of the info I was shown, although what I was shown was in the form of an email to the dealer....

I would be surprised if it were to be that soon, I'm just advising what I read. :|

Audi always used to release RS models in the run-out period (the last year or 6 months) of a model, but since the mid-noughties Audi have been chasing sales and market share so in many cases that's changed with the RS models much more likely to be released much earlier in a model life, with notable exceptions like the 8P RS3.

So for me all bets are off when the next RS4 will be released as Audi no longer have a consistent strategy for the release date of RS models.

...and will probably be an FL like the B7 and B8 (.5). As long as there is one by Feb 2018 I'll be happy :)

The B7 RS4 took 5 years to arrive and the B8.5 RS4 took over 4.5 years to arrive, hence I cannot imagine for a moment the next generation RS4 will be on sale (and being delivered) in the UK by Feb 2018

That would mean Audi launching the RS within 2 years instead of the 4.5 years of the current model. Guess we will just have to wait and see!

it will be nice if next RS4 b9 can do under 4 secs. Rather than waiting, perhaps it is better to go for RS6.
