I've had 6 cars in the past year all with perfect alloys, camera, sensors etc etc and I have kerbed pretty much all of them!

My mrs is having driving lessons and has taught me how to park again. Haven't touched one for a little while now.

When I bought my Navara I already had a brand new set of 22" diamond cut alloys waiting to go on. 5 mintues after they delivered the (brand new) truck to my house I had the new alloys in the back and was off to my local tyre guy to swap them over. 2 minutes after leaving the tyre place I kerbed one of the alloys! I went to drive around the inside of cars stationary in traffic and wasn't used to how slow the steering was compared to my Alfa that had a very quick rack (less than 2 turns lock to lock) and didn't turn the wheel enough!
I was gutted!

We need a "who has lost the ability to drive in later" thread.

At 23, after my first "company car", a Mk3 Golf GTI, I was meticulous in ensuring I didn't kerb wheels due to the shame of it. I used to scoff at people with marked alloys. Since I've hit my forties a) I kerb wheels regularly and b) I am not that bothered.......

I've also found that rubbing gently with wet 'n dry can make them look a tiny bit better :)

was just looking at alloy wheel protection policy and a lot of them seem to exclude diamond cut finish - so I guess that rules out the v-spokes then? Are the rotors not diamond cut then - or are all of the RS4 wheels types?

They look similar condition to my old vspokes. I'm 38 now and no longer worry about the occasional rim scuff, although the first one always guts me a little

Is a rim scuff the same as kerbing an alloy?

Any chance of 'after' (repair) pics?

[Have one wheel w/this level kerning / scuff - which is enough;-) Had prior impression these wheels design did not easily (or able to be) lend for recut / polishing, - while maintaining original diamond cut design].

TIA

I was there, then got two repaired last month. Today a Kensington & Chelsea kerb & I had a misunderstanding. I lost.

:dung:
Explains your post the other day! Sorry to hear this bud

With the wider wings and 30 profile tyres giving no kerb protection, I have no idea how you B8 RS4 owners with 20s manage. The ONE occasion I drove an B8 I nipped the kerbed keeping left for a car coming the other direction through a narrow rural village, thankfully no mark on the rim, must have only caught the tyre.

Think I screamed out loud the first time I kerbed one of my S4 Avuses after having them refurbished. Thankfully it wasn't too bad, I rubbed it down a tiny bit as carsarecool mentions above and sealed it up with some nail varnish to stop the water getting in

Ffs x 2. I am doomed. I noticed a nasty scrape on the front bumper and it was not done by me (probably in a car park) and whilst getting some cash out today some <beep> hit my front wing with his door!!!

I am now properly past caring but all in the first 3 months of ownership!!!

I know what you mean, I had an S5 and Q5 before and nothing ever happened in years if ownership, and then the car I always wanted this sort of crap happens in weeks.
