EVO magazine write up - dynamic steering
Re: EVO magazine write up - dynamic steering
I can't help feeling that it's all a bit of a gimmick, most of us don't really understand how to set a car up properly in the first place so why don't the engineers (who do know what they're doing) give us the best compromise with a few little add-ons, like exhaust noise and shift speed, to keep us amused? If we were all spending heaps of time on tracks then there would be some merit in this, but I personally think it's a bit of a marketing ploy.

Re: EVO magazine write up - dynamic steering
I have dynamic steering and it's ok, but it's taking me a while to get used to it coming from my S4 which was hydraulic. Not a massive fan of comfort since it's far too light for me.

Haha I was really impressed, really shocked actually, what a superb all round package.Revolution wrote:Joyous, or joyous understeer..?Ian_C wrote:Was refreshing to jump into a new shape manual S3 the other day with ZERO buttons and settings to dick around with - just jump in and drive. I have a loathing of ever increasing wheel and tyre sizes, so it was refreshing to drive a car that comes on 225/40/18s with no larger wheel options. Suspension was great - both better ride and body control than my S4. Never did I think I needed more grip or more front-end bite. I wasn't going mad because it wasn't my car, but I did take country roads for my test route to avoid traffic and the feds. I realised I felt comfortable pushing on quicker because the car was narrower, placeable, lighter, accurate and sure footed. The fact its about 8cm narrower in the wings than the RS4 obviously helps! The wing mirrors don't seem to stick out for miles like the current B8 models either.
Obviously not RS3 / RS4 quick, but I bet it would have no problem matching my S4

Re: EVO magazine write up - dynamic steering
Yeah I found the rev limiter a few times, but I didn't want to stack it, was proper greasy that day, plus added mud from farm traffic on the lanes!
Felt lost without a temperature gauge, I'm sure there might have been one if I'd scrolled through all the menus on the DIS. The 'boost' dial would be fun for the first few days, but I'd soon be wishing it was a temp gauge

Re: EVO magazine write up - dynamic steering
Have to say that I don't like the dynamic steering...my least favourite part of the car. Was warned against it, but too tempted by the value for money that you get from the sports pack to pass it up. Same as one of the earlier posts...too light in comfort and too heavy in dynamic. Plus the ratio changing is just weird.
Anyone know if it is possible to permanently (or temporarily) disable the dynamic steering?

Thanks Brooner...will check that out.
Re: EVO magazine write up - dynamic steering
Just collected mine after the upgrade. Drove from Audi Victoria to Islington in Dynamic - much better experience around town. Will have to wait until weekend to see how it feels on open roads but it's a much nicer drive now in traffic.Brooner wrote:pcroxford wrote:Have to say that I don't like the dynamic steering...my least favourite part of the car.
