iPhone and phone prep high

Post by doodlebug » Tue Sep 10, 2013 7:18 pm

SIM arrived. When I can get it registered, T-Mobile's customer portal has been knackered all day, I'll report back. I knew there was a reason I always use Voda or O2.

Lol, so true, you could always pop it in an unlocked phone and call them to activate. Or have they replaced all humans with HTML.

Aye, that's what I'll do in the morning if the website is still buggered. Involves an 0845 number though, FFS.

Probably end up talking to someone in HTML.

SIM and 6 months data sorted, T-Mobile website still borked. That is utterly crap.

Anyway, no luck so far with the holy grail. Will have a play and bung at Audi UK in the meantime.

Great news the sim is sorted. Definitely a case of you get what you pay for, but if it works it is a bargain.

We should get some version numbers posted

Yep, for £20 I'm not going to grumble. Data works fine.

WIll collect the version numbers this arvo. I've asked Audi UK whether there's a software change, there must be given RSQ's findings.

If it will help I will snap an image of the version screen tomorrow when I am back in the UK. My dealer hadn't heard about the change (I educated them)....

Happy to hear the T-Mobile thing worked out - did you get 500mb of data to use (in total, per month) or unlimited?

Ta, won't get a snap until tomorrow now.

Data appears to be limited by time only.

Here you go - the "magic" option and the version number.

2 weeks and 300 miles into ownership - this car is awesome. Radar Cruise and Active Lane Assist make the motorway simple... A and B road blasting is epic.

The only "issue" is that if you want to switch and make a phone call with the SIM in the dashboard you have to re-boot the MMI which takes 2 minutes.

However, having a permanent SIM and WiFi network in the car is handy, I am going to hide a Wifi Webcam somewhere in the airvents or something so if it gets pinched I should have a nice video auto uploaded to the web.....

iPhone and phone prep high

Cheers. Down to software version no doubt. Something else to lob at Audi UK, want to be sure stealer can do the update before I ask them to avoid the usual circular farce.

I tried using a GiffGaff data SIM and my HTC One X to see if I could get a successful result using the SIM for data and Phone for Voice etc, but no luck and never got either of the screens shown above with the 2 x signal strength indicators

I had my May 2013 B8 RS4 into the dealer yesterday for them to investigate the problem, I'm on MMI Software version _PO620 and had hoped to get an upgrade to PO660 to see if that solved the problem. They confirmed the problem and raised it on the Audi UK Tech call today, the result was that the problem has been solved in MY2014 cars, (didn't say whether hardware or software), and they have no planned fix or upgrade path for 2013 cars

After paying £350 for the High Phone Prep with Connect, got to say am pretty annoyed that it doesn't work fully except in pretty limited configurations

Off to call Audi UK
Current - Triumph Stag, Mazda Bongo, Nissan X-Trail, C7 RS6 PE
Previous -B8 RS4, B7 RS4, 911 C4S, S4, S3's, 318is, 200SX, Primera eGT, Sunny ZX, Escorts, Fiestas....

Odd as the HTC one x supports Sap BT profile so you should not need a sim card, just use your phones data?

IMHO that's totally unacceptable - they have a cure but they won't let you have it?

If Audi UK won't play properly then get them some bad publicity (or just threaten them with it - that's got me solutions with 2 companies in the last 6 months).

Calm down, Audi uk have not said anything yet. Sure it is just a software update that will be rolled out in due course.
