This is a problem because...?

What's the difference between being fast at 5500-8500 rpm then shifting and being right back at 6000 and back up again... vs being fast @ 4500 rpm, then running to 7000 rpm redline in a turbo car, shifting and then running 5000-7000 again?

Or are you saying you prefer to never change gears? The rs4 has a proper dsg box that changes perfectly rev matched gears in about a tenth of a second with the flick of one finger to downshift. Is this inconvenient?
Or are you a torque man who likes to accelerate from 2500-4500 rpm exclusively?

The sound of a v8 spinning to 8500 is one of the greatest sounds in the automotive world. Do you not like it?

Are you worried about the engine? It is made with forged pistons and rods, and an incredibly complex lubrication system. Don't worry about it.

Worried about fuel efficiency? What is it?

Even as a B7 RS4 owner, I am very confused why everyone moans about this... The new car is fantastic.
Fantastic!!! With numb steering feel

I'm still learning it and with this weather not had a chance to really push it although I did drift it around the roundabout yesterday by accident !

I agree the 2k price for the buckets that were a no cost option on the B7 is a rip off but the base price of the care is good 54k when the B7 was 52k 6 years ago

Exactly

Dave-get a grip!

The Supersport seats make the need for buckets redundant and a total non starter.

And ceramics are a bargain on the '4

You're conveniently forgetting that many things that were standard on the B7 are cost options on the B8 - compare a like-for-like spec and you'll reach a different conclusion. My B7 cost £53k new, to get a B8 with the same spec will cost just over £70k - that's a 32% increase in 6 years, or nearly 5% compound per year which is getting on for twice the rate of inflation. That's just greedy.

First obvious thing - buckets , which are now a £2135 option...
Silver leather seats and silver headlining, was a no-cost option but it's now a £400 option...
Carbon fibre inlays were standard, they're now an £810 Audi exclusive option...
Storage package was standard, it's now a £100 option...
Seat adjustment was standard, it's now a £450 option...
Bose was standard, B&O is now a £535 option...

And that's what I found in just a 5 minute spin through the online configurator.

I think inlays are standard.. It's the engine cover in carbon fibre that is extra and I think was extra on the b7 too. Navigation and upgraded stereo are also included, arguably b&o is an upgrade vs Bose (I think it is the only model in the b8 range with this option but may be wrong). Seat adjustment is also standard, what's not is the memory for seat and mirror positioning - don't recall what was the case for the b7. The buckets you are right - what they are asking for these seats is quite steep but then again the standard seats are more than fine. I don't think you can get the b8 to 70k unless you start adding exclusive colour options or every available option on the standard list.
