not with a milly non res
Re: confirmed
Yeah but I wouldn't care if it kicked the <beep> out of the competition. Look at the B5 RS4, when it's tuned up to 450PS, it's right up there with the best - still sounds pretty good too.535dboy wrote:But the V6 sounds dull

Re: confirmed
I agree the B5 sounds lovely but the B8 I've driven one and just the other day the Mrs and I were out walking and an S5 cab drove past and he booted it- before I said anything she said that didnt sound exciting at all!bam_bam wrote:Yeah but I wouldn't care if it kicked the <beep> out of the competition. Re: confirmed
I'd just like to add I'd love an RS4 with an RS5 4163 V8 engine. However, I don't own the outgoing B7 RS4.........

Re: confirmed
im sure current B7 owners are not the main target audience
those owning £20k - £30k cars are not necessarily the people who go out and buy £60k cars, in the main
lets face it, the B7 does not reach 420ps ... it does 390 at best on average
so if the B8 can pull a true 450PS thats 60PS gain, add to that a slick gearbox, sports differential, better economy emissions, brand new and better tech
it makes a good car IMO

Re: confirmed
It's a good thing we're not talking about the S5, huh? I think you've answered you're own question "an S5 cab doesn't sound exciting" - no surprise there, however, do you really think an RS with a double blown V6 would sound the same as an S5? I think Audi would turn the wick up considerably on an RS version, no doubt 450+PS would headline along with a trick exhaust that includes valves of some sort.535dboy wrote:I agree the B5 sounds lovely but the B8 I've driven one and just the other day the Mrs and I were out walking and an S5 cab drove past and he booted it- before I said anything she said that didnt sound exciting at all!bam_bam wrote:Yeah but I wouldn't care if it kicked the <beep> out of the competition. The biggest issue with this scenario is the stress/load per cylinder... not that it'll happen, they've committed to this 4.2L lump, again.
No matter where you go, there you are.
Re: confirmed
Why would essentially the same engine make its stated power when it never in the RS4? I think its reasonable to assume similar "actual" power output losses on the new one, only waiting a year or so will see though i suppose.

becuase it might not be the same enginelengster1 wrote:Why would essentially the same engine make its stated power when it never in the RS4? I think its reasonable to assume similar "actual" power output losses on the new one, only waiting a year or so will see though i suppose.
the V10 5.2 FSI pulls stock figures in the R8 ... so why cant they make the 4.2 FSI
Re: confirmed
I thought is was a development of the RS4 engine.
Re: confirmed
Has anyone put the RS5 the dyno?.
