Thermostat, common failure?

Post by steve099 » Sun Mar 11, 2018 9:40 am

My car has been throwing this fault the last 3 days, booked it in for its APril service early because of them. However today it just overheated and had to stop and let it cool down. Ended up getting towed by Audi roadside assistance as I dont want to risk the engine cooking;

Cruise control switch actuation-Bits 0-7: 0

The log looks like its been happening for the last 1000km and i only just noticed it.

Is this a known failure thats easy to fix?

I am worried Audi will try and void my warranty due to the suspension and exhaust been modded, forcing me to cover repair costs.

All feedback welcome

well well well, I take back all the mean things I said about audi the past 3 days. Audi Australia approved my warranty claim even though they noted the car has had its ECU modified, suspension replaced with KW's, exhaust modded and airbox modified. The dealer tried to reject it and I asked they escalate to Audi head office. My argument was the mods done to the car could not affect the thermostat which is a very well documented failure across many years with their cars in both stock and modified forms.

Strangely they agreed and replaced saving me $1,200.00 in repair costs :)

I also got my car its 3 year service early which set me back $980 AUD. Funnily the guy handling my service asked me if I wanted to put it on their dyno before I left, which I declined.

Thank you for being reasonable Audi Australia, this is the sort of service that creates a loyal customer.
