Over £7k per annum...wow. I'd be very disappointed if I couldn't own mine outright for 1/3rd of that per year.
I've tried a standard S-Line B9 A4 Avant and felt underwhelmed, the only aspects I liked was the rear load cover retracted with the tailgate opening and the seating position was marginally sportier. The rest was inferior, especially feel/build quality of the interior. The virtual display was also very bright and tiresome on long journeys.

You mean through finance or a bank loan?
Ive ran the numbers before.. PCP vs Bank vs Lease and there isn't a lot in it
Unless you mean something else?

The c8 year old interior of the b8 is seriously tired in my opinion ....outside it still looks okay.
Everyone in the b7 said the same underwhelming comments about the b8 when it came out if I remember

Think the s4 PCP figures suit me.....never said they'd suit everyone.
In terms of owning versus PCP , I don't think the RS4 has done me so bad .....it's definitely NOT the WOW I'd rather comments .....
Someone else can do the 'proper' math , but From memory, the RS4 I have was around £55k newly ordered/spec'd ....it's now worth £34.5k as a trade in...finance outstanding is 33k
I paid £1000 deposit ...paid £750 per month for the last 33 months ....so it's cost me a total of £26000 - the 1.5k potential equity = £24.5k cost in total
On the face of it , had I paid cash , I'd be c£4K better off.
However , a few details.......;
The original discount was only available to those seeking finance ....so paying cash might have cost more.
As I admitted in my first post , I do not have the cash which others do.
Had I cashed out / swapped earlier , I would have most likely broke even .......
.......AND still have had my savings in the bank !!!
So whilst I wouldn't attempt to slate the guys who like to pay cash ....I equally argue not to say wow and slate the guys who do PCP .

it is normal
I have sold many >£60k cars privately with finance outstanding, buyer pays finance co directly, very normal and very well understood at that price point
if I was selling a £4k Vauxhall Corsa, I'm not sure your average Barry Boy will quite understand PCP, but selling my F-TYPE R for £56k with finance outstanding was very simple.
New car PCP finance can be very competitive to a high street loan as the deals are often supported by the captive finance house (VWFS) with low rates and deposit contribution.
going in with low deposit allows you to exit once you've paid 50% of the deal ... and of course you can settle the finance at any time, whether you are in positive or negative equity
as for modding it, its your car - do what you want - just don't break it as you will have a financial liability if you do
PCP is very different to Contract Hire, which is, as it says, just a long time Hire
PCP, the clue is in the title, personal contract purchase

Re: And now , the end is near.....
There is a new B9 S4 Avant in my local showroom. To be honest as with the previous S model, it just looks like a well spec'd A4 Avant. Having driven several B9 A4's, I'm not particularly impressed. I don't like the 'retro' style dash which feels like a backward step and a bit sparse, the stop/start button is badly positioned under the centre console and a stretch to operate, the instrument cluster is unnecessarily fussy and you can spend too long looking at it to get the info you require rather than looking at the road ahead. The sat nav is ridiculously awkward to operate; the small steering wheel boss is, in my opinion, too small, and my last niggle is the unusual operation of the exterior door handles - is it really necessary to have them pivoting upwards? No.
When I drive the the B8 - both the A4 and RS4, it reiterates to me that the B9 models are an unnecessarily modified model rather than a replacement, and I for one will definitely not be considering a change. The engine of the future RS4 will no doubt be quicker in its turbo'd form than the V8, but better all round? Mmmm, I'm not sure looking at the current B9 models.
Just my opinion, of course.

I don't think I'd argue with that .......never really looked at them in any other way .johnnydog wrote:There is a new B9 S4 Avant in my local showroom. To be honest as with the previous S model, it just looks like a well spec'd A4 Avant.
It's only the RS that takes it to a different league.
You'll be looking for a different model or even marque then ?......as you'll be waiting c8 years for them to adopt your hints in a b10 ?

Re: And now , the end is near.....
No, definitely sticking with my B8 RS4. Owned now for 18 months and I love it! Fortunately, I'm in a position where it's all paid for and I'm not even thinking about a change.
Although I did drive a new RS6 Plus recently - what a beast and possibly the only car that could sway me to change - apart from the high purchase price and horrendous depreciation of course........

I mean owning outright. No loan, finance, etc.
The current trend towards agreed values on financed vehicles is not realistic and unsustanable. I'm seeing it right now in the commercial sector in which I make a living. It will only get worse.

Its a guesstimate.. based on the 450 or so i paid for my b8 s4 after year 3max_b wrote:Is that figure correct? I thought warranty extension costs on the B8 were higher?S4WON wrote:Extend warranty for 600 quid
It wont be a lot more as long as you dont let it lapse
Re: And now , the end is near.....
It's a lot more. Circa double that figure with with a large excess. If you want a fully comprehensive warranty with no excess it's over £2k.

Are we talking about the same thing?moonigan wrote:It's a lot more. Circa double that figure with with a large excess. If you want a fully comprehensive warranty with no excess it's over £2k.
Im talking about the price to extend the "official" audi warranty, after year 3 (or 4, 5) with audis offical underwriters - mondial. They will contact you direct for this before your extended warranty ends.
Yes, it will be more if you let the official one lapse or if you go after market - which i wouldnt bother with personally anyway.
Where is your quote from?
Re: And now , the end is near.....
Mine was £800.45 paid up front for £250 excess, 10,000 mile limit, although I took the monthly figure of £70.03 (total £840.36 for the year). That was November this year. The previous year it was £789.05 up front.
And now , the end is near.....
It's no longer Mondial, now VWFS.S4WON wrote:Are we talking about the same thing?moonigan wrote:It's a lot more. Circa double that figure with with a large excess. If you want a fully comprehensive warranty with no excess it's over £2k.
