I still need to do this - I've been away, that's my excuse!
Ah me too! Will do it this weekend!

Hey Guys, New to the forum but not to the Audi scene. recently got myself a 2015 RS4. Loving the car!

Annoyingly looks like I have the DRC issue. Seems a bit intermittent. I mean i can go over speed bumps and not hear a thing. Then on a mildly bumpy road i get the odd knock from drivers front. I also get it when entering my drive as there is a small lip on the drop crub.

Then on other days it seems to be fine. This I will have to do all the measurements.

I did mention the DRC issue to the dealer I was buying from and they advised they have checked it all and nothing to report and car passes the 145 point check. I have since spoken to them again about any work which was carried out on the car and in March 2016 the car was in for knocking noise from the front suspension.

I have the report and it goes on to say "Technical Bulletins and found TPI which states this is normal for the DRC system. However we repressurised both DRC circuits and road test again the noise has lessened but will always be noticeable"

Having read this thread I know this is not normal. Looks like I will have to speak to my local dealer as i bought car from a dealer some 500 miles away.

Wish me luck going to call them tomorrow and see if i can get it booked in. Anyone had any luck with dealers in east London/South East/Kent area who have dealt with the DRC issue before? I don't mind driving a few miles to find one who knows the issue and will be able to help.
cheers

I have driven several RS4's, all of which had this DRC issue (including mine). It doesn't really affect them going over larger bumps - you would expect a degree of a thump with any car going into a pothole, but it's the minor surface undulations that tended to cause the 'knock', such as slightly sunken manhole covers, or sunken previous surface / pothole repairs. Mine was affected more on the front offside, and in colder weather. But following the replacement shocks last month, it has been perfect. 'Knocking' is the magical term refered to in the TPI that has be the complaint of the customer. If the knocking is confirmed by the technician, in any dealership, then they should by rights fit the new shockers.

As an aside, it's great to see some new members joining in. Welcome Sepangstu and AFN380.

Back on topic.

When handing your car over to the dealerships for fault finding. I'd strongly suggest that prior to doing this, you spend some time driving around the dealers local area establishing a way to replicate the fault and then write/type it all out. Road name, speed, external temp, car state hot/cold etc. That way the technician has half a chance of replicating the knock and can then take it to the next stage, by agreeing there is a fault.

just as a heads up
I put my car in for a new shock DRC issue, yesterday @ 0930, and asks to come back at 5pm.

Well i rocked up at Audi at 1645 only to see my car still on the ramp with the RS tech still fiddling with my car the rear wheel off and the lead equipment on the rear, so i had a word with him and he had only started on the car at 2pm, so i knew it wouldn't be ready for 5pm obviously. So goes in speaks to the young service advisor. only to say look the cars not ready I'm not hanging around give me a phone call tomorrow when its ready, and ill picket up around 1230. err no!!!

Gets a phone call today, eventually at 1500. We would like to keep the car another day as its not sitting right, ( settled properly). oh great another day with no car.

so im a bit pissed that my car is not where it should be, with me on my drive. and a bit frustrated about their time appreciation to get this problem fixed, only hope it comes back right, first time.

threaders.

Hey guys, Thanks for your help so far. So had the car out again this morning. Drove if for about 1.5 hours through smooth roads, bumpy roads and the odd drain! I could not replicate the knock today. very odd.

I think I am going measure the parameters a few times to see if i can actually pinpoint when it happens.

(1) level ground
(2) correct tyre pressures confirmed
(3) wheel size and tyre parameters noted
(4) measurement noted as either pre- or post-drive
(5) DRC Setting confirmed (shall we agree comfort?)

Will do this over the period of a week or 2 and see if i can find a pattern. I guess in the meantime I should be smiling as no knocks at all today! :jump_clap:

I've had some good news that Audi are finally replacing my front shocks with, and i quote, "a modified version" which will eliminate the knock i'm told - heres hoping

Having had an RS5 with the problem I decided to buy an Avant without DRC. Well bizarrely I have a knock on the front drivers side that is virtually the same as the knock in my old 5. It happens when its cold and approaching junctions when the front is under slight load when braking and turning slightly left. It is definitely getting worse but goes once the car is warm. I am baffled as I am would be surprised if the shocks on a non DRC car share any components with a DRC equipped shock! Does anyone have any idea?

I had my front shocks replaced in July and the feel from the front is very smooth and well damped, but the rear ride quality is still really poor. When the car was new ride quality was good all round. I've got it booked in with Audi for them to check it out but I'm thinking that they should have replaced the rears as well! I've noticed the front sits very high and when the car starts up the rear ride height drops further (in Auto).

If you've had your front shocks replaced, how is the ride quality now? Does anybody else have issues with the ride quality from the rear?

So three corners are 68cm and one is at 68.4. I do only have about 1/3rd of fuel in it though, so I'll try remember to top the tank off tomorrow and re-measure as I think it will lower the offside rear into the 67cm region. I've never had any issue with the suspension on the car and it's now done 7400 miles.
Customer is asking us the same question on his B8 as he has knocking too and were trying to help him out...
Are you guys measuring from the arch to the edge of the wheel rim..?

I was measuring from the ground up to the wheel arch bottom with the car/tyres cold. I think too many variable come into play if you measure when hot, as the ride height increases dependent on temps.
