DRC - definitive list?

Macdaddy- From the floor of the relatively flat and level garage to the top of the wheel arch.

Now I've got the car back I can try help - with DRC, 20" V-spokes and 7mm tyre tread. For the rear, my ground to bottom of the arch measures 68cm on both sides.

My garage floor is level from side to side, but it does have a 1cm drop from back to front.

At the rear mine are 67.2cm o/s and 69cm n/s and the fronts are as above, 69.8cm o/s and 69.3cm n/s.

Interesting, the fronts on mine are:

Nearside = 68.4cm
Offside = 68cm.

So three corners are 68cm and one is at 68.4. I do only have about 1/3rd of fuel in it though, so I'll try remember to top the tank off tomorrow and re-measure as I think it will lower the offside rear into the 67cm region. I've never had any issue with the suspension on the car and it's now done 7400 miles.

Had a bang yesterday like id hit a massive pothole! Even stopped but couldn't find the pot hole...

Got home and had a good look at the car. Rear drivers side is very low (66cm) compared to the rear passenger side (71cm)!

I'm guessing my drc has exploded!

It couldn't be worse timing! Need the car Friday! Going to speak with hitchin Audi today about it.

Any thoughts. Can the car be driven 100odd miles like this? Does sound a good plan!

What are your front measurements like? We don't really have enough data to say what's right and what's not yet.

If the DRC failed in the manor you think, you'd certianly see the oil weeping on to the floor or at least down the shock itself.

69cm left and right front. It's on a slight hill.

There's no oil on the floor. I think it just let go. Need to put a jack under and have a look for residual

It felt like a massive pot hole, but I got out to see as I couldn't believe I'd miss something that felt that big! Nothing there. So I'm guessing that's where it gave up the ghost. Been no spotting on the drive before either.

So just jacked up the drivers side. Couldn't see any issues. Put it back down again... Sitting fine! 69cm as is the front!

Jacked up the passenger side; again no issues I can see. Springs intact, no fluid anywhere. Dropped this down and still a couple of cm high!

Going to take it round the block and see what it's like. Will still drop it to Audi for a check as that makes me think there's a blockage somewhere!

That sounds more like a spring breaking but then you'd expect to hear some horrible metallic noises after!

I may well be paranoid! I've dropped it at Audi. It was on a flat drive though. And was like that when I parked up last night. Wish I'd done some measurements then to be honest.

So after driving round a mile or so, I stopped and rechecked and it did seem back to normal. It drove ok and the drc settings all seemed to apply fine.

The back left was the high one, and it does feel like it's got a wobble. But again, am I just feeling it because I'm paranoid?

We will see! I'll let you know how it goes when Audi get back to me.

Ok, to further add to what I was suggesting about fuel load changing the rear ride height as the tanks location, is predominantly on the offside.

1/3rd tank - NSR=68cm OSR=68cm

3/4 tank - NSR=68.4cm OSR=67.5cm

Fronts haven't changed.

My next line of thinking is that all my measurements have been taken with the car in a cold state after being left overnight, so the hot/cold tyre pressures could also affect ride height. Next time, I will test that out. First I'll park it up hot after a good 30+ minute drive and take a measurement, then let it cool off over night and re-measure in the morning.
