Potential New Owner

Post by Dav333d » Fri Jul 08, 2016 12:32 pm

Hi All,

I currently own an F80 M3 but for many reasons, one of them two wheeled and normally covered in mud the M isn't practical and also lacks the usual soul found in an M car. So I started looking for "Hot Estates" and narrowed it down to the C63 and RS4 ... which was swiftly narrowed down to just the RS4 as I felt the C63 just didn't look very nice all be it a nice sound track.

I've found a car which I'm interested in, probably older than I'd want at March 2013, but the deal is too good given the lack of cars in the market at £35k ish budget. The car's lightly spec'd unfortunately doesn't have a sports exhaust (gutted) but does have drive select and adjustable sports suspension. Realistically what options are the "must haves" and from a tech perspective I know I'm likely to be going backwards (currently stream deezer from the car) how far back is the entertainment on an RS4 against a newer car, car I'm looking at has MMI DVD or SDHC based Sat Nav with sound package upgrade.

Anything else or advice that I should look out for would be much appreciated.. especially if its worth the outlay on an Akra?

Cheers
David

I,ve just come from a C63 to an RS4. Most importantly to me was the sports pack with the sports exhaust. I never thought I would better the Merc in terms of sound, but once this Audi starts spinning up the rev range with those flaps open....wow ! It sounds glorious, especially inside the car, which is where you want it. With the Merc it was always the pedestrians that benefited more from that soundtrack. If I were you I would wait for the right one , there are loads out there. To Conclude, you need, Sports Package, drive select, 20" wheels, leather. That's it !

Cheers Steve... I've got 3 out 4 there so with the deal I'm getting I can get an aftermarket exhaust and have change.

Is it allowed to ask what motorway MPG you're seeing?? :boots:

Normally not allowed to ask that on a performance car... but always nice to know.

Looks like yours is in the best colour as well!

Hopefully collecting on the 20th, I went to wales a couple of weeks back and getting the M down to the trail centre was nerve wracking due to lack of ground clearance.

I can put up with that, I'm getting 28 out of the M it will just mean slowing down a touch.

Don't get hung up on a sports exhaust...I had it and was unimpressed. You have the option for aftermarket.

If I was looking I'd want basic, no sports pack. Drive Select just adds complexity and I was never 100% happy with the setting I chose but got used to it I guess. I think I'd even go for 19s. I'd have to have Hill Hold (only cos I had it before and have on the current car). I had B&O and miss that as the current car is $hite.

I drove to Switzerland and got 285 miles out of a tank at a steady 85 all the way. Worst was 140-ish but that was nailing it on short journeys.

I moved from the RS4 to a Golf R and do miss it......sometimes. The plan is to wait for the B9 but who knows.......

Enjoy the car...

Enjoy the car as the man said. Life too short to worry about fuel economy. I get 22 to 25 dependent on weight of right foot at the time and traffic

I don't worry too much will have an XC60 as well. But getting high twenties on a cruise makes me about right on work miles so always important to bear in mind.

Pick up mine in seven days and can't wait. Few questions which I can't seem to find answers on the internet..

Aftermarket exhausts ... Firstly are they worth it? I've had a quote on an akra and north of £4k isn't happening. Milltek I've heard drone, Scorpion is an unknown to me.

I've got silver grills, window surrounds and roof bars.. I like it but I think black would look better on red, has anyone done this and if so how much does it cost to get done? Either wrapping or spraying the original parts. I imagine Audi charge ££££ to replace the OEM parts.

Last thing ... anyway to get Deezer streaming in the car?

Cheers

If your looking for an exhaust there is one on eBay full miltek with both rear sections, resonated and nonResonated at a fraction of the price, if I dint already have one I would be snapping that up!!

I've never had an aftermarket exhaust before this one.

I have to say I'm definitely converted! I've got the jcweld exhaust and it does sound fantastic! When chasing the gears it puts a massive smile on my face!

Highly recommend it.
