Essential for resale ?

Ermmmmmm ??

And privacy is a simple retro fit
I think Hill Hold is worth the £65 simply as it means one less blank button.

Agree and Advanced key so you can just press the button to start.....I have it and love it's simplicity.

I'm still very nervous of keyless start cars. The amount of cars that are simply vanishing over night in London is shocking. I've been pulled over by the police 3 times in the last month, not for being a potential drink driver, but because they wanted to check I actually was the owner.

The old steering wheel lock bars have become a very common site once again.
It's all torque talk.

Yup, purely for that reason alone I specifically didn't go for a car with advanced keyless. You'll also find my RS4 sporting a Disklok as an extra deterrent. :)

As for HHA and Storage not being essential, anybody like me who's had them as standard in an A6 will miss them both greatly. If you look at the RS4s for sale used, the cars that are differentiated generally have the small cost options on top of the usual things you find like sports package etc.

I don't get the Hill Hold - had it in my manual R8 - and found it handy maybe a handful of times but in an auto? Am I doing something wrong? I havent found one moment when I've thought it would be useful....

Hill hold assist saves you having to use the handbrake switch at all. When you stop (on a hill or otherwise) it applies the handbrake so you can release the foot brake and avoid dazzling the car behind in traffic. Obviously it releases automatically when you move off.

If you're going to have to have an electronic handbrake rather than having a proper lever as nature intended (how else are you supposed to do handbrake turns ...?), then it makes it liveable with.

I tend to use it in town or heavy traffic, and leave it off when manoeuvering or when out of town, particularly at night as the light on it is quite bright.

I originally was looking at Used rs4s and HHA was on the must have list as had it in my S4. Makes getaways from the lights a bit quicker. Handbrake is in so as soon as you hit the gas you are off.

Just annoys me that you have to turn it on every time, I'd like to have it on by default and off by exception. My wife's golf has it and it's always on by default.

If you have the convenience pack it stays active, well does on mine i don't need to press it at all when i get in the car it's always on. I assume it's the connivence pack that allows this tbh.

It's part of the ritual now, I put HHA on when I take the handbrake off. What annoys me is the length of time the MMI takes to "boot up".

Having had the car for nearly a year. What would I order now?

Misano
Optics
Rotors
HHA
Technology Pack (find rear cam very useful after not liking at first)
B&O
Privacy Glass
Advanced Key
Boot Storage System

This was my biggest grumble with HHA on my last A4

However, when you spec, the HHA on an A3/S3, once you switch it on it will stay on till you switch it off

I think as someone else stated, go for what you want and can afford, it's your car so don't spec it for the next owner, enjoy it. I don't think anyone really knows what is 'essential' for re-sale, the phrase alone is a nonsense as all cars sell, some more quickly than others but often as much to do with provenance, colour, mileage as its options. I was told by a couple of dealers that sports pack and a roof make the car easier to sell.
