Spacers question

Post by jjdsyd » Sat Nov 15, 2014 12:46 pm

Hey guys - question. And, yes I searched before posting...

The consensus on spacers here seems to be 10mm all round. I am curious as to whether there is a rubbing issues with going any bigger? I know the RS5 guys are at 15mm front and 10mm rear. (I guess they're asymmetric since their rears poke out a bit more than the front..) BTW, I am not planning a drop so I am hoping there'll be even less risk of rubbing.

Tks in advance for any help.

15mm on rear have minor rub when compressing over table top speed humps sometimes if the speed is a touch too high. 10mm on fronts is no problem. My car is not lowered.

One more question: with 10mm spacers, do I need new bolts or are the OEM bolts long enough? tks

To be safe I had new bolts supplied that were longer by an amount equal to the spacer width.

10mm are enough and you do need bolts - I got the whole lot for £230.

Spacers question

Are we sure there are no rubbing issues with 15mm spacers on the rear with full compression? What about the handling characteristics?

Please refer to my earlier post, standard suspension with 15mm at rear, does rub a little when compressing over certain speed humps. Can be eliminated by going a touch slower than usual over the humps.

I must have a special stock rs4 then glen, standard 20" wheels, standard drc suspension, but my 15mm rear spacers do rub when coming down off table top speed humps a little too fast (it didn't rub before they were fitted)

Hi Lewis

Very special indeed as I am pretty sure the DRC was only part of the Sports suspension package. The stock car didn't have it.

I am happy to be corrected if I am wrong though.

Ahh, I didn't realize there was a (lowered) sports suspension package on the B8. If that is the case that's probably why it rubs.
