From what I have heard and from having a dyno done some years ago on my old B7 RS4 I think it hard to get accurate figures. My B7 showed only 203 KW (272hp) at the wheels ! I guess in an ideal world it would be necessary to do all the runs back to back on the same day to get a fair comparison.

Have done other dynos and often been disappointed by the numbers shown and they do not often match the seat of the pants test.

Not all dynos are equal !!

That's right, pleasing thing here is its made 51 ft/lbs (which is about 70 NM) more torque back to back on the same dyno, same conditions.

That's what I'm after.

Are you going to put it on the dyno at MRC for comparison sake when you get the suspension done?

Throttle response seems sharper, it's the torque that has made the real difference for me, and seems to rev harder past 5k rpm. More fun and testing yet. Yes will try a dyno run at MRC for comparison as well.

Sounding better and better to me.

I'll keep asking my local distributor to enquire about a remap in Aus.

If you have any Dyno charts of before and after that would be helpful to show where the torque is being made.

Stick it on youtube (using your own account - not the RS246 one) & then link to it.

It's all torque talk.

FYI, regarding fuel types. I spoke to a chap who ran a refinery for Exxon and he said avoid ALL supermarket fuels and only use Shell and BP for your aluminium engines. We were talking specifically about the RS4 at the time.

His reasoning was that Shell and BP use single source petrol which passes the 30 legacy compliance tests the fuels need to pass and they have their own highly specific formulas which work very well. Whereas Tesco etc use any fuel, only comply to the modern 20 compliance test and most importantly use ethanol to increase their octane value. The ethanol is very bad for aluminium engines and will cause long term damage to the engine.

I am no chemist so cannot back up anything he says other than he is a very trusted source.

BP Ultimate 97 doesn't have a high enough octane rating to be useful, might as well save the money and put 95 in! Shell vbastard is good however the additives they use to raise the octane seem to degrade quite quickly so you won't get the rated 99 octane from some garages that don't get filled as often.
Tesco momentum is boosted with 5% bioethanol and maintains its knock resistance well. 5% isn't much, in other countries they use up to 15%, and a lot of cars are happy running on E85 which is only 15% petrol.

Personally I used to like shell but would occationally get a tankful that didn't seem as punchy. MRC seem to consistently get more power with Tesco 99 so I've switched to that, and if I'm doing a long journey and need to stop i'll use Shell. BP/Esso/Texaco are crap (in my opinion).

A healthy B7 that has just been decoked will make standard power. The problem is, is that it doesn't take long to become coked up again.
The B8 makes it power too as proved by Graeme and nwk00. You probably look like you are down because the variations from dyno readings.

Silas, I thought you werel loving your B8? Not got the lasting love of a B7 eh?

Don't get me wrong, I do love the car, I just fancy a tuned 997 turbo s
I just fancy some scary power, something totally different from the b7 or b8
Maybe just a thought ATM

Jesus, they are frightening enough without tune!

I'd wait for 991 though, that moves things on a whole lot more.

997 is still an awesome bit of kit.
