With all the problems being experienced you have to ask if it's actually worth speccing DRC at all?
I know it's part of the Sport pack but with Dynamic Steering not seeming popular either you have to ask whether it's worth it. My dealer reckons there is not that much difference between the exhaust sounds either particularly from the driver seat when you drive them back to back.
20" V spokes are cool but really popular and rotors are on everything these days although they are still nice.

I've ordered mine in what some might say is "poverty spec" with no Sports Pack and on 19's mainly down to cost if I'm honest but I beginning to think I've done the right thing regardless given all the problems arising on here.

Roll on May and delivery of my Poverty spec Sepang with Optics!

Could always spec exhaust on its own I guess?

Will soon find out when I pick mine up tomorrow with the sports package!

Well got riv back, pressure on DRC was very slightly down from 20- 19.5
So they re pressurised the system, and think the squeak was coming from the location lugs for the back seat, they are waiting for some new updated ones to come in, all in all pleased with Guildford Audis service. I think that most cars with DRC will suffer from a slight knock on comfort mode, it's just one of things, it's hardly noticeable TBH

Just curious to hear opinions on this controversial subject !!!!

We all know DRC problems have been going on for years. My last RS4 in 2007 had problems which were eventually sorted, but 7 years later it looks like Audi still haven't managed to sort the problem. Some cars are fine while many others have this knock. So.........

What would you do if you had spent 60 - 70K on a car that had a knocking suspension and the dealer told you 'its just a characteristic of the car', and there is nothing we can do with it ? Would you accept it ? What are we legally allowed to do ?

The key point there is that it isn't just a characteristic of the car as I've owned one that didn't do it and driven probably 7 or 8 more and none of them did it
If my next rs4 does it, it'll get rejected back to the dealer until they sort it

I couldn't agree with your more Graeme4130..... reject it until its fixed. But most of the posts I seem to read are people grumbling about the DRC problem but then they eventually say, I'll probably just have to live with it, or I suppose its not that bad etc etc etc. Many others have master techs scratching their heads not knowing what to do. It is an expensive car after all and I personally don't think its acceptable.

So I guess I should have asked, if you do come to a stalemate situation where your dealer says its a characteristic and we can't do anymore for you, what rights do we have ? (We all know on here its not a characteristic as many cars don't have the problem) Its easy to say reject it for not being fit for purpose but have you ever tried rejecting an expensive car. Trust me it ain't that easy. I tried it years ago with a 35k car I bought due to it being damaged but in reality when you go to try and pursue these things it ended up in a 3 year court case. So what options do we have in reality if we are unhappy ?????

Legally, you effectively have 6 months in which to formally reject a faulty car, but there's a process to follow in which you have to give the dealer a 'reasonsble' opportunity to make the product work
If they return that this is normal, then you'd have a strong case to demonstrate otherwise through other ok rs4 cars

However, the best course is to write to Audi uk and kick start the rejection process as the dealer will only do so much to help you, whereas in my experience, Audi obviously have a much bigger card in the game

Whether you actually intend to reject it or not, kick start the process and get Audi uk on the case as they'll provide the momentum to the repair process

Just a quick update, sorry for taking so long.

My suspension was under pressured from factory! They repressurised it and all is fine again. Had this done in Jan and no issues since.

I know this famous DRC knock has been around for years but can anyone actually explain the mechanics of what the knock is, or indeed what causes it ? I assume it something that comes from inside the shock as most people say they don't get it in dynamic mode so extra pressure makes a difference ? If that's the case and all shocks are made the same why is it in some cars and not others. What is the weak point here ? You would also assume something which knocks would cause excessive wear and would get worse over time ? Does it ?
