Did they spot this first time or did it take a number of visits to get to that? thanks for the heads up though.
They actually said their was an Audi technical bulletin on the issue with this listed as the solution. They threw in the clutch pack for good measure but wasn't listed as a part to replace.
Hope they sort yours out anyhow.
Throttle or gearbox issue??

To be fair though - the car has had several issues and been in & out of Audi Manchester since February so it was going in anyway and this was just added to the list. Most of the issues are now sorted but still a few gremlins to identify.
So far they have done the following:
-DRC noise: replaced both actuators, recharged system 3-4 times, replaced O/S/F lower rear wishbone, topmount, spring & shock. Still knocking noise present in Comfort mode when going over ridges when cold... Will be going back as I've run out of patience.
-Rising revs as above & some jerky gearchanges - the rising revs has now gone along with the jerky downchanges so hopefully they have sorted this. I occasionally have a slightly hesitant set off when in Dynamic / Sport setting when in manual mode. I'ts as if the car sets off, thinks about it and then sets of again. This only happens under very light throttle and not under a spirited or heavier throttle set off so I'm presuming in this mode it just wants to go and I'm making it take its time??![/quote]
Oh yes - totally forgot about a couple of other things:
I got a string of errors one evening on the motorway:
-Sports Differential failure
-Parking Brake Failure
-Stability Programme Inoperable
These pinged up in a row over a couple of seconds. M'cr Audi said this was related to the cam position sensors they changed.. They also changed the metatronic unit and clutch pack and update all software. Not had the gearchange issues or errors since.
Gearbox oil leak: they removed the gearbox and replaced all seals
Rear Diff oil leak: they removed the rear diff and replaced all seals.
So, up to now its had some issues but they have been rectifying them - its just taken some time...

Re: Throttle or gearbox issue??
Yikes, there's a nice little warranty claim right there!
Thanks for the intel, most useful.

Sounds like the jerky down change maybe worth a visit to the dealer then. Will give it a go and see what they say

Re: Throttle or gearbox issue??
I was hoping now that they've swapped that many parts there can't be much else that could go wrong and at least its got a host of new bits on it! I'm pushing Audi UK to extend the warranty for an extra year for my piece of mind. Fingers crossed they'll agree...RS6chris! wrote:Sounds like the car needs to go the journey!!

Moonmonkey831 wrote:I've had mine now since April and have done nearly 3k miles. I guess ever since I had it when you have it in sport mode and the gears change down, the whole car sort of shakes and you get a slight jerk forward and back when the kickdown occurs. Can anyone confirm if this is normal behaviour? Never had an RS before so not sure if part of the aggressive sporty trait?
To be fair - I've been in a couple and then all tend to have a slightly more jerky change in Sport mode and definitely have a slight kick when down-changing and rev matching. I presume some technician at Audi thinks that makes it feel more 'sporty'... It shouldn't be shaking though - it is more like it pushes a little on down-change and jolts a touch on up change.

Re: Throttle or gearbox issue??
Ok, I have an update from my dealer on this. As below:
The engine hesitation issue was resolved by replacing the 4 camshaft position sensors with modified sensors. A couple of your sensors had flagged up codes relating to there operation which may have caused engine hesitation as the faults were occurring. Some earlier vehicles have required software updates along with the sensors but your engine ecu software level had been altered/raised by us recently so a update was not required. However we did perform a software update on your engine ecu to prevent raised engine rpm when coming to a stop. The raised engine RPM was to aid a smooth gear change. The software update has improved this without effecting shift comfort.
Like my last post, I've hardly driven the car sine I got it back, but I didn't have it happen in the few trips I have made. Fingers crossed.
