It should always hold the last mode, but it will start with the exhaust valves closed and the drive in D. You, of course, can put that straight into S to reopen exhaust valves

Thanks graham, but what does S do? Does it just do the exhaust change? Or does it set other things like throttle, drc, dynamic steering Etc also?

It's the gearbox setting (ie D drive and S sport), so just holds gears longer and rev matches down changes with a blip of throttle
Not sure if it changes throttle map at all though, but if it does, it's not by much

what is the year mine is a 13 plate and it holds the last mode chosen on start up

I just got her, so April 2014 build. She's going back for the nearside front knock soon, I started the conversation with the dealer with 'it's not acceptable and I don't expect to hear it's a 'feature' of the model when I managed to 'cure' my B7!'... Will also ask about the settings saving...

Aha, always read to end of thread before replying...' So it is remembering my Individual mode but I have to hit S to get the pipes to open up which is what made me think it wasn't remembering... Doh...

Yeah, don't take any bollocks from them. Mine never knocked, nor did the demo rs4 I had for a week before I bought mine, not did the press car at the millbrook event and the rs5 I have currently is squeak free, so just give it back to them and make them fix it
