Hill Hold Assist......Operator error?

Post by RSChief » Thu May 15, 2014 11:14 pm

According to the manual the Hill Hold Assist should remain in the previous setting, on/off, when you next switch the ignition back on. However, every time I switch my ignition "On" my system remains in the "Off" setting requiring me to turn it on each time before I drive off. This happens regardless whether it was on or off when I switched the car off.

Not a great hardship but just seems to be different to what the good book says. Could well be operator error, anybody else noticed this with their Hill Hold?

Cheers

Maybe I should rtfm. I just assumed it was a safety feature to deactivate. Mine does the same as you describe, but I just press the button when I first get to the lights & have made it a habit if I am honest....
It's all torque talk.

My wife's golf remembers the hill hold setting for next time, but I agree it would be nice if it remembered it in the Audi

My S3 remembers it.

In my B8s I used to find that sometimes hill hold would really grab and make a weird grinding noise. Had this is in my S4 and RS 5 and it used to make me cringe. It was generally when I was in slow traffic it would suddenly come on.

Works better in the newer gen cars from Audi.

I was never quite sure of hhc as it's a pretty crappy system, and afterall in a two pedal car, you can just left foot brake as you pull away

I don't miss the handbrake on my b7 RS4 where it was jammed under the armrest and you couldn't get at it. That was a crap design

Cheers all for the feedback. Sounds like mine is the same as everyone else' B8 RS4. Nothing to be concerned about. Strange for the Owners Handbook to be wrong though eh.

Mine only allows me to activate it when I have my seat belt on, so if I get into the car and try to prepare it for take off (waiting 30 seconds for systems to boot up!) i can't include that until I'm belted up... Does anyones B8 remember the car setting either? I have to reset it to Individual everytime I start or it defaults to comfort mode?

Yes. I can only think that there are some early cars with early software that may not have this feature. Other differences have been seen.

Maybe a related question, but when you pull the stick into S what mode does that put the car in? Is it full blown dynamic?
