MMI high has always had a sim slot too (My Q7 Sline plus has it) its just nicer if you dont need to get another sim (especially as in my case I dont pay for my phone!).

tbh - I didnt order it on the RS as although I do use the carphone part of it on the Q (rather than just Bluetooth which amounts to much the same thing!), the use of google mapping and online services/search are rarely used and wont be in my case as we will use the Q for distance travelling with family etc..

But only recently have you been able to get both the sim and phone to function at the same time. It was either or earlier this year.

so the phone works over bluetooth while the nav uses the local sim?; i guess thats a reasonable feature.. Guess you would need to watch data useage - the google mapping uses quite a lot if you pay for use or have a cap..

Yes. It can bond via BT for calls and SIM for data.

As above, 6 months unlimited data on T-Mobile for 20 quid. Appears to cache as well, so usage not as high as you might think.

If I am going the Giffgaff route, what does everyone think is a good estimate of data use age? 500mb?

Thanks

depends on whether you use the google maps setting in the nav; if you do you will prob need more than 500meg - go for a gig at least.
If you dont map much 500 will be fine for the traffic and updates.

Have to say I almost never use it on my Q7 Sline plus if I am honest!..
