Picked up yesterday...

Post by andrew111 » Mon Sep 02, 2013 11:59 am

Apologies - I'm no photographer... Picked my car up yesterday morning at 0800!!

Been a long wait, came from a 2005 997 C2S - been driving a work Nissan Navara since May... Worth while pain now!!

Questions!

Running in - know this is subjective but Audi sales guy said "first 200 miles, don't exceed 6000 rpm" - what is the general school of thought on here?
MMI - Anyone using the wlan connection with an iPhone 5?? tried it last night but it wouldn't connect. Google seems to suggest downloading an app called Audi Connect...
Return to Invoice insurance - any recommendations for this?? Looked online ALA looks good (Audi price matched the tyre and wheel insurance but would not get near the RTI quote.

Annoyance -

Bootlid - doesn't open very high, almost everyone who has had a look at it smashes their head!!

100 miles in and i'm really impressed - full report to follow when i've had a proper chance to drive/play!

MMI needs a phone with Sim Access Profile. iPhone does not support.

Re run in, engine is run in on the bench, the whole drive train does need a bit of time IMO. Just drive normally, but avoid full beans for a few miles. I'd give it at least 500.

Looks good!! Similar spec to mine (prism, black optics, v spokes). As doodlebug said iPhone won't work, either get a new phone, SIM card reader (I have this and use it for long trips basically take the sim our if the iPhone and put it in the MMI) or additional SiM.

Looks stunning in Prism.

Mine (03 B6 Avant) certainly has an adjustment to determine the bootlid 'open' height. Its on the right hand boot hinge, theres a logo on it to show what it is, looks like you use a screwdriver to flick a lever between positions, I'd hope the present Avants still have this?!

Congrats on the new car, looks very sleek.

As for the boot lid mine was the same, you can adjust the opening, its in the manual. I think you can push the boot lid up to the maximum using manual force and then press the boot lid button for 4 seconds and it should store that setting. Its all on page 33 of the manual, I've just checked.

The running in period is up to you, again its all in the manual, page 146. It tells you to run it in over the first 2500Km (1500 miles). I would just take it easy to start to bed in the brakes and gearbox. Avoid launch control as well.

Other than that, ENJOY :biggrin3:
