Lead time from build week to delivery?

Post by Chris G » Tue Jan 01, 2013 8:13 pm

Hopefully my dealer will confirm after the holiday season but does anyone have an idea of how long after the assigned build week delivery to dealer will be?

Depends on the boats!

I was told that it takes longer for RS cars to get here than normal cars.

I never got reliable info from dealer (not their fault) or the contact I had at Audi UK

It was probably about 4 weeks though.

Cheers, my dealer has always been reluctant to commit to delivery dates.

VAG are rubbish at this

We could never get a decent answer on the porker either. Dealer ended up putting me in a 991 cab for about a week whilst we waited for the new one to come.

I find the dealers are massively let down by HQ but I have to say both my Audi and Porsche dealers were brilliant in the way that they dealt with the situation and frustration.

from build completed to delivery...2 weeks should be possible right? How frequently do Audi ship over their cars by ferry?

So is build week (week 2) the week of build completion?

Yeah, build week is the start of the build. When I ordered mine my dealer told me they had a contact at Audi UK and could maybe speed things up. Looking at the dates of other orders he wasn't bulling me. Ordered my on 13th December, got a call the following day with a confirmed build date of week 6 2013 with delivery around week 12 to 13 2013. So in answer to build week to delivery I would suggest its around 6 -7 weeks.

6-7 weeks seems a lot. My RS3 was 3 weeks from build week to delivery to the dealer in the north of England.

Mine took 3 weeks from build week to arrive to the dealer. This was probably the fastest it can get here. It does depend a lot on boat schedules(rest of te process is fairly standard)

You may well be right and my dealer will hopefully tell me my car is being delivered early (not putting much hope on that though).

Out of interest, does anybody know how long it actually takes them to "build" a car?
