Or if there's a corner/less than perfect surface/mud/standing start

C63 is a wonderful sounding machine and very well screwed together, but not faster than an RS4 in most real world scenarios (to quantify this statement - I have a friend with a C63 estate and we've been head to head many times with both of us driving both cars, and unless we're talking dry Dual carriageway, the RS4 is a marginally faster car)

But you'll overtake him when he is in the ditch.

I agree the C63 is one of the best sounding cars from the factory. Whilst DKs R8 sounds amazing he had to fit an aftermarket exhaust to it, like I did to get a proper sound out of mine. Mine sounds very similar to the C63 now.

No, we were talking about great sounding cars regardless of number of cylinders.

I beg to be different. The R8 V10 sounds amazing even on standard exhaust. I agree that the RS4/C63 is nice but nothing is like that V10 when it is stirred, especially in a spyder with the top down...

Have to agree there, they did a good job with the exhaust system for sure. I love the C63, but..would never want to own one.
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

It's a different noise.
V8s have two noise types really.
The big ones (corvette engines, holdens, mercs) generally rev a lot lower and so the noise is much deeper and bass like.
The smaller ones (rs4, ferrari etc) tend to rev much higher so the noise is more of a scream.

For me personally after having both 6l+ v8 cars and the 4l v8's I prefer the noise of a screaming high revving engine.
There's just something about an IC engine on full throttle over 8k rpm than is just divine. Esp when it's followed by a swift heel n toe downchange. IT's just "right".

Larger ones are a little bit more lazy and whilst fun I don't think it's for me.

My little old track car that hit 9k rpm was great and with the near solid engine mounts made for a sensory overload.

Hah - I've had one little engine hit 9500 but unfortunately valve spring let go so can't really say it was "by design" ;-)

I keep looking at the small 2.4 v8 bike derivatives that chuck out good power and 11k rpm.
Just don't have any time for projects at the moment. Still got a half arsed start at a xj220 replica at my parents.
