OK Thanks - Uhm - yep - how did you guessBrooner wrote:no the A3 sline is thinner but the same diamiter are you looking to get a muti fuction wheel ?

steering wheel will be able to replace my RS4 FBSW and the RS3 one has MF buttons.
I have seen a pic of a guy in the states who has done the swap. I think it will be difficult to source one unless anyone knows different?
Re: steering wheel size/thickness
If you can, I'd highly recommend doing it, the RS3 steering wheel is so much nicer than the FBSW in the B7 RS4, that plastic bit at the bottom is just awful when I think back

Well I am considering it - just trying to source one is going to be fun - Would you know if the DSG paddles are removable or can you get one with out them?gilford wrote:If you can, I'd highly recommend doing it, the RS3 steering wheel is so much nicer than the FBSW in the B7 RS4, that plastic bit at the bottom is just awful when I think back
All the ones I have found so far have had the paddles - obviously I dont have a DSG box!

Re: steering wheel size/thickness
I was offered a brand new DSG MFSW for my daily at I price I could not say no to, I removed the paddle assembly, split them down to remove the paddles and PCB etc then filled the mounting plates and painted them, so they now look how you would expect an OE blanking plate to look.
OK it’s not an ideal way of doing it, but if you can only get your hands on a DSG wheel then it is an option.

Look on here, loads of RS3, S3, R8 type wheels:

These are all 'S-Line' and are of a different thickness to the 'RS' models.MikeFish wrote:Look on here, loads of RS3, S3, R8 type wheels:

Re: steering wheel size/thickness
No they're not. There is a mixture in there of all types of wheels. I scrolled down and stright away spotted this one which claims to be an original and new RS3 wheel.

Re: steering wheel size/thickness
The first wheel looks just like the one in my s3 TBH I prefer the b7 one, actually I prefer the whole interior it's way more plush and better built
Re: steering wheel size/thickness
Me too. I think the steering wheel on the B7 is at least different from the S-line, S3, RS3, RS6, R8 they all look the same now. The ally (plastic) bit at the bottom of the wheel is certainly not the worst or cheapest looking thing in the interior (just look at those random bits of chrome!!). And for a couple of hundred quid you can replace that bit with carbon to match the dash (assuming you have a carbon interior).
I want an alcantara flat bottom wheel. There are plenty of S/RS type ones around so that would be the easy option (although converting the flat bottom to multifunction flat bottom is probably not so easy). I'm sticking out for an alcantara RS4 wheel as I think it looks the part and if nothing else, stands out from the standard issue flat bottom wheel that seems to be in most Audis nowadays.
Having said that there are soe nice variations available on eBay so they are tempting too. Multi function doesnt really appeal to me as I don;t use the volume control on the RNS-E to contro lthe volume level anyway, although the track skip would be useful.

This is on my list recovered in suede/alacantra - it has to be one from a TT-RS (for me) I can get autoDAB fitted then and have a über cool MF FBSW

Re: steering wheel size/thickness
Have you seen a quide on how to change from a FBSW to a MFSW anywhere? I've searched but can't find one.
