It’s can’t be difficult.

New wheel (obviously)
Sport button for dash
Wiring loom to sport button
Wiring loom for MFSW

Possibly a new steering wheel controller (but I doubt it)
VCDS coding
VCDS HEX+CAN owner - covers all VAG cars (PM me if you require VCDS coding in Kent)

Any RS one I think [RS3/6 ETC]- comes with paddles the RS3 one looks the nicest - I've seen one in alacantra with red stitching. lush!

Yep - a bit of a pain but I wouldn't have thought this was a real prob? Or is it?

Each to his own I say but IMHO the first wheel looks better than the Alcantara one any day.... there again that's only me saying ....

I recently replaced the FBSW in my RS4 wth a MFSW from a TTRS and I think it's a big improvement personally.

One thing to note is that as well as moving the sport button to the dash you will also need to replace the winscreen wiper control stalk with one containing additional controls for the DIS.

Mobblers, was it a lot of work to run looms etc? And are the parts readily available? And excluding the wheel / airbag roughly how much does it cost?

I'm not technically savvy enough to do the work myself so I had it done by a company specialising in retro-fitting of OEM equipment. I've just checked the invoice they gave me and they charged me £230 to supply and fit the new windscreen wiper stalk and dashboard sport button. All of the parts used are genuine Audi and from what I can gather they are readily available as they had no problem getting them. I'm afraid I have no idea what is involved in the work since I wasn't watching them as they did it.

It might be worth starting a topic in the RS4 forum in the hope that PetrolDave replies. He seems to know a lot about RS4 electrics so I'm sure he could tell you what is involved in terms of extra wiring etc.

Sorry if I haven't been much help.

For £230 I'd happily pay someone to do it too. Was it Happydaze that did it for you? And was that all it cost plus the wheel?

It was HappyDayz that I used. In addition to the £230 I mentioned there were additional charges of £95 to fit the new steering wheel and do all of the necessary coding changes and £27 to replace the TTRS badge in the wheel wth an RS4 badge. They supplied all parts apart from the wheel and airbag (and airbag loom). I was lucky and found a new wheel with airbag and loom on Ebay for a very reasonable price.

If you're interested, here is where I got the wheel:

Fantastic - all the info I have been looking for. One question, do the MFSW buttons all work with the RNSE / Telephone / Voice control ETC?

The MSFW buttons seem to work exactly as they would on a factory fitted RS4 MFSW. if your car has SDS high fitted then you should also have the full voice control of the RNS-E (some coding changes may be needed to activate the SDS when the new wheel is fitted). If your car doesn't have SDS high then you will need to get it fitted (along with Bluetooth if your car doesn't already have it) to give you voice control. I had Bluetooth with SDS high fitted at the same time the wheel was replaced and it cost £350.

Forgive my ignorance - I have a 2010+ RNSE - I guess that SDS is already built in and is not enabled as I have a FBSW ? I also have Bluetooth as well. So is it just a case of Vagcom setting to enable the it? The car has the 'technology pack' ....

Sadly the seller on eBay has sold out of the TTRS Steering wheels - I've pinged him a mail asking when they will be back in. Thanks again for the info.
