anti-theft suggestions

Hi all,
I'm a bit paranoid about someone nicking my beloved RS3.
Any thoughts on the best ways of protecting it? I was thinking of maybe a hidden kill switch to disable the fuel pump? and/or some "Tracker" or similar?

Problem is modern cars are so difficult to hot wire the thieves target the kdh so most likely to brake in to get the keys my advice if you have a garage keep it in there not on the drive out of site other than that do not have the key on show in the housebut realy life's to short to be paranoid enjoy the motor

The only way you will stop someone taking your car is having a gun and not being afraid to use it, you will then be on par with the scum bags out there. These days they really don't care, they ran my mates girlfriend over the other month for his vxr!

IMHO a Tracker is a waste of time as the professionals know where to look and how to defeat them.

After a break-in a couple of months ago the Police advised us to keep ALL keys with us at all times, as very few thieves want to get involved with threatening owners.

IMHO the best bet is something that disables the car when nobody in the car is carrying a tag (which you don't keep on the same key ring!) then they can nick the keys and drive off, but the car will stop after a few hundred yards.

S4 owner was beaten on his drive until he handed over the keys a few months ago in Manchester

Trackers can be installed many places so only ever go for ones that are weatherproof as can be mounted in hard to find places.
As mentioned previously gps trivial to block.

If you are just looking to prevent theft with key then several cheap options.
a simple kill switch on the ignition feed (eg push button start on the rs4) can be enough.
It is very unlikely that if the thieves do break in and grab the keys but have any trouble starting the car they will re-enter the building.
I have installed RFID tags with a simple relay on other cars which makes it really easy.

The more advanced ones can allow the car to go a short way before arming and killing the engine as soon as the car stops.

Voe though - make sure you know of or install a bypass as if it goes wrong you can be left high and dry!

Note with the cobra, that they don't kill the engine (they're not allowed to due to health and safety!)...they wait till its turned off and then don't allow it to restart. I had this function on my 330s Scoob.

Just remember ofcom will send you nasty letters if you get one (voe).
Given the tech is child's play its easy to build one yourself and stay 'under the radar' as it were.

i don't think thieves are too bothered by ofcom

if they want it they will take it

i have a large safe under the stairs which is bolted to the floor which i put my keys in, but its a gamble if they come in mob handed and threaten violence what do you do

after seeing how cars are often treated when stolen i dont think i would want it back anyway

do the basic stuff

dont let people follow you home
use a garage if you have one
keep your keys away from the door / window
dont live anywhere near manchester

most importantly dont worry about it, enjoy the car and be thankful most BMWs are still very easy to steel and thieves are lazy so go for the easy cash

APR remap with the anti-theft option? Only problem would be you have to put the pin in each time if you want it protected.

Yup - the only security system better than a big feck off dog is two big feck off dogs.
(In tandem with a multi dum-dum cartridge equipped shotgun)

If you do look to fit a house alarm then well worth looking at exterior perimeter ones. Never really saw the point of alarms that tell you after somebody has broken in. Plenty good ones that don't throw up false alarms from the neighbours cat.
