Slow to change gear?

Compared to my TTS, my RS3 is really slow to respond to gear changes using the paddle or stick. Sometimes it seems to refuse to up-shift as well, typically when pulling out of a side street with a bit of extra throttle (nothing too hard, mind).

Does this sound like normal behaviour or is a trip to the dealer in order?

cold oil?

they do learn tour driving pattern and can be a bit slow when adjusting to your driving style

Could be cold oil as it is more pronounced when the car is cold.

I didn't think the car did any learning in +/- mode, just in D and S?

Could be the mecatronic unit, wouldn't be the first with an issue, easy fix thou

I also have some inconsistencies in the gear changes, mainly when manually changing. Car is booked in for next week for a check up

There are some TPIs out with regard to TTRS/RS3 shift profiles.

Definitely get it looked at.
Could just require a software update.

Ok, car went into the dealership today but they couldn't reproduce the problem. The master-tech checked out my car and looked for error codes on both the engine and 'box - none showed. That's ok, the problem normally happens quite predictably when the car is stone cold so it will go back to the garage next week to stay overnight and on the next morning I'll take the master-tech for a ride and see about demonstrating the problem. Luckily I'm a professional system tester so reproducing problems is an established skill for me

Interestingly there is a technical note against the RS3 regarding adaption and how this process can result in it feeling jerky for a period.

I'll attempt to reproduce the problem again myself in the morning and his time I'll video it - you forget that you have a HD video camera in your pocket all the time these days!
