exhaust centre section

I'm thinking of losing the centre box on my exhaust... It has the sports exhaust on already but I think most agree it's just that bit too tame.
I've seen the Supersprint centre section below which replaces the centre box marked '2' on the lower image and clips in front and back. Just need to cut the pipes before the rear boxes and buy 2 clips to secure the back end so looks like an easy win.
I spoke to a local exhaust company - JP Exhausts in Macclesfield who have made various exhausts for me over the years from big turbo'd skyline to 70s jag etc and very capable of doing a very good job.
They said they would prefer to make & fit the section themselves at a price of £200+VAT as a straight pipe system or add another £250+VAT for a x-pipe centre section. I thought that sounded pretty reasonable but wanted to ask you guys what the benefit of the x-pipe is? Is it needed? The cost isn't an issue - it's more curiosity as they offered both options.

The SuperSprint x-pipe is a tried and trusted upgrade - produces a much improved exhaust note - they used to be a few Youtube clips around?
Personally I would stick with the Supersprint item as a known quantity? unless you know these guys work and know it would be equal or better to the SS in sound/quality?

Supersprint item is a great mod, however it's expensive and people who've purchased them have said its not that easy to fit. ie not easily reversible. Nickyboy and DK had this 'centre box delete' on their RS5s, DKs was Superprint, Nickyboys was unknown because he bought it from Audi and the exhaust had already been modified
Custom for 200 + vat sounds like a superb price, especially if that includes fitting. MRC offer a similar 'centre box delete' custom service, albeit for a higher price

.....what Ian said
I was offered one at £300 a while back but the actual price currently seems to be £600+!

Yep £600 is looney money. If it was plug and play one could justify it, however its not viable as you have to butcher your factory system to make it fit. I get the impression it is very difficult to 'return to stock'. If you have space to store it, at least with a full cat back system you can keep you factory exhaust in one piece to refit when you come to sell. A Milltek system is pricey, but you'd recoup a good percentage when you came to sell.
Or as above have a custom pipe welded in for a couple hundred, nice vocal soundtrack, bargain price

thanks for the response guys - I'd heard Audi actually supply a replacement section marked '2' on the above which can then be fitted if you remove the Supersprint or custom section. I'll double check.
Anyhow - I really trust the guys at JP - they make some amazing manifolds and full systems and think they're very capable of doing a great job at a fraction of the cost of the Supersprint item.

It is not difficult to return to stock.
Yes the oe exhaust have to be cut,
but it is designed to be and has markings to clearly indicate where it is to be cut.
It can be put back to stock no problem as all with OEM clamps/sleeves.

Could have sworn someone on here said they had a nightmare having a Supersprint pipe? Cannot remember who it was.

Yeah - you took it off and sold it separately when you sold the car as well iirc
