....and a new set of Dunlop SportMaxx GT's.

First pics after the new wheels and a bit of a scrub up.

So far the new Dunlop's feel like a huge improvement over the PZero's, not as much 'tyre squidge' in the corners and grips much better. Road noise a little more but with dynamic on and the revs up.....

I've only had the wheels on since Saturday and it's amazing the amount of interest the car is drawing from passers by. The wash and shine helps but I've done that before with the rotors on and never drew as much attention so probably testament that these wheels set the car off better (although I would say that having sunk the best part of £3k in the new wheels and tyres!). I plan on getting the rotors refurbed and sticking some winter tyres on so it'll only be a few months before she's back to original spec so will be interesting to see if the attention wanes.

With respect to the tyres although I've only had them on a couple of days and there will be the 'new tyre effect' I'm definitely impressed with the Dunlops, so much so I'll plump for Dunlops for the winter versions. Managed to get 20k miles out of the PZero's with 2-3mm left but although they're still legal at that depth of tread they do nothing for the cars performance. Also found a big screw stuck in the rear left!

Beautiful car - love the colour.

V spokes are stunning although they are a total pain in the arse to clean but worth it for the three hours of motoring before they get dirty again.
Anyone got any ideas apart from hiring a permanent valet?

Wheel sealant.

I put wheel sealant on mine. What an absolute ballache. I wouldn't recommend V spokes to those who love a clean car.

I'm trying out the Wolfs Nano Rim Sealer plus the Nano Seal and Shine from Polished Bliss. I've used the Poorboys Wheel Sealant before and although it was ok was a pain in the ass to put on and maintain. The Wolfs goes on a lot easier although I've yet to give the wheels a clean but plan on doing that tomorrow so will post back if it's any good.

One of the problems with the current Audi wheels is the textured paint finish which seems to attract brake dust and road tar and becomes a pain to get off. The wife's SLK's alloys have a smooth paint finish which makes them a breeze to clean and probably better for the Nano Sealant.

I think I've resigned myself to weekly wheel cleans and try and keep on top of the sealant.

Car looks great mate, seriously considering a switch to RS 5 and Sepang Blue would be the colour. Those rims are a great alternative to the rotors. Have you tried Armourshield on the V spokes? I use it all the time and it works great, provided the rims are bone dry before you spray it on.

Never tried Armourshield but I'll look it up.

Cleaned the wheels today and the Nano Sealer looks to be doing the job. Pretty much all the brake dust came off with just a pressure wash. The Clean and Seal is supposed to preserve the sealing over time so I'll see how it goes.
