The S3, S4 (V6T) which are Turbo'd / Supercharged and the R8 V10 which is pretty much a Lambo engine, are not just equalling power claims, but in most instances exceding them. Let's see if Audi can achieve this without question with their own N/A engine. If they can, then this will definately be a fast car.
They emphasise fuel quality is paramount.

Does not look like there will be, for the positioning of the product is different to the RS4 - a GT rather than a potential track toy.

No chance of that, anything to make more money and then there will be the aftermarket copies to contend with.

Hmmm....then why have they added a Lap Timer to the standard kit? It's in their official Press Release above.

I think soon it's going to be all but impossible to get a performance car with a conventional manual box ! :(

I have a lap timer on my 125cc motorcycle, available on 911's and so many cars.... That's to give you a good feeling...

This is no GT3 or an M3 CSL - it's slightly more than an M3 Coupe but less than the M6, its 911 TT/C4S

I wouldn't mind a DSG style box. Just got to find the right car where one comes fitted as standard or option. Unfortunately I don't think the RS5 will be that one and I've already ruled out the 911 Turbo (had a Porker before and got fed up with the unprovoked abuse when driving it). R8 V10 or Aston Martin maybe?

I'm not disagreeing with your statement. But in the official Press Release at least, they are using such statements as:-

"The driver information system integrates a lap timer for recording circuit times"

Which implies, that they - Audi, "officially" see this car being used as a track car. Otherwise, why fit it with this equipment and say so!

I personally don't see this as an out and out track car anymore than you do, as it's obviously not a focused track car with all that comparitive weight. But, you never know, it might turn out to be a very good track car. Here's hoping!

What do you mean? :?

Aston Martin DBS all the way for me (now comes with a Paddle shift - but don't know if it's DSG or Auto though)! Still love the R8 V10 too, quicker than the DBS!

We are agreed on that.

A lot of people will track it (as they did the RS6) as some people also track the 997TT (rather than the nimbler GT3's).

And hey, the 'Ring taxi weighs even more than that.. And this does claim to be 10 seconds faster than the RS4.

It is early days, and a lot more info still to come out to influence our thinking.

Will the final price also affect how the car gets used?

What do you mean? :?
Random w@nker signs and verbal tirades from other road users/pedestrians! It was unreal. I remember sitting at some lights in Aberdeen waiting to turn right and some ned in an old Evo was giving me the knuckle shuffler sign as he went past along with some fruity language. Had never seen the guy before in my life! One example of many....sold the car after 10 months and bought a Lotus Exige. Only got looks of admiration and jealousy with that, not one hand gesture I can remember. Sold that after getting fed up with Britsh workmanship and bought the RS4 (should have bought it in the first place  ).

Know what you mean about the DBS and not sure if it is a dual clutch flappy paddle. Mates got a Vantage V8 manual....cracking motor. The only thing with the DBS is the price, an awful lot of money plus the Edinburgh stealer (Murray) don't have a good reputation. The R8 V10 however........not as practical as the RS4 but matches up with the 911 Turbo on performance. Just need to save the pennies and convince the wife now!

Very very sad T@@ssers, jelous of a nicer car than theirs!! Some people! Thought there would be loads of Porkers in Aberdeen and therefore no need to single them out for special treatment.

I know of Murray's but didn't know they had a bad reputation!

I'm pretty sure the DBS just has a paddle shift Autobox and not the Dual Clutch.

Haven't read that, but that's quite a margin.

I tend to agree, I also think it will look quite a bit different in the flesh also!

The final price will just be expensive - period!
